I got it last week, i had this big empty white wall, so i got a big ass painting to fill the space up.

I really like that... hard to find a place to put something that dark, but definately an eye-catcher.

I think it is out of place.

Though since you bought it already. The frame must go and be replaced. Also should adjust your recessed lighting so it spots some light onto it. Remove the plant and well not sure what you can really do to get rid of that light switch.

it makes you think which is part of art.

Its really different - but its a great looking painting

I kinda like it myself, but I do think it would be much better displayed with a light or two shinning on it from the wall or roof.

I'm constantly amazed at what some people call art. I've come to the conclusion it doesn't matter WTF anyone else thinks of it, if you like it then its art!
