in your opinion, when is a person considered smart?
 

is it creativity? is it a person that always had great ideas?
is it someone that finds a way out of every fuckedup situation or the one that never gets into one?
how about a compatibility to learn? a man that learns everything faster than others?
and how about the person who is very open minded? that can "see" out of his box more than others when facing a new and different opinion or a complex piece of information?

try to recall a person you thought was a smart person - now try to analyze: why did you consider him smart?

well i would call my uncle smart , he is a bit of a drop kick , a vegie , not all there and has killed alot of his brain cells from drinking to much
but apart from all tht he has managed to get himself out of every fuckup he has gotten himself into and usally comes out on top

jeopardy and the like i wouldn't call them smart , just book worms with good memory , i don't consider the grades on a piece of paper as being smart once again that just shows that the person has good memory

Anyway, I don't think of it as "who is smart"... I think of it as "who isn't smart."

Anyone who isn't smart, is smart in some way. And we've all met people (especially on this board) who aren't very smart.

There's all kinds of 'smarts', just as there's various degrees of smarts.

Street smarts, business smarts, intellectual smarts, social smarts.

I'd say it all comes down to your own personal criteria of what you consider to be smart.

Correct. Someone could have one of the above in 'smarts' but I think your original question is trying to get at someone's 'intelligence'.

As for that answer, they IMHO would need a good combination of the 'smarts' mentioned above, and I would think they would have a track record of making good decisions, or have sound judgement, at the right time(s) based on the 'smarts'.

Intelligence involves a lot more than a hustle.
