PS2, XBox or the Game Cube?
 

I keep tying up PC's with work stuff and as the wife likes games (sometimes I find the odd hour too :) ) I'm gonna get a games machine. Which though? The new Nintendo isn't out here yet but is it worth waiting for?

Each system caters to difrent type of gamers what kinds do you prefer?

All advice appreciated as I'm the one who is gonna give it most of its use. I personally am leaning toward the PS2 but only because I'm a Final Fantasy freak and wanna play the newest game ASAP.

XBox is cool (at least from the little I actually got to use it). It has a hard drive, so no more buying(and losing) those damn memory cards.

Sony PS2 is cool, too. But, they are working on PS3. The oldest boy says it will be out by XMas.

FFX is great:) if u are a rpger Id say stick with sony <has a ps 2 and 11 games fer sale> lol 1 is ffx

Xbox will reign the world of console in a matter of months...PS2 is barely maintaining its grip on the stregth tof two games alone...

I have PS2 and XBox in the house. I can't get near the XBox. PS2 is only used for some favorite games, and by me, on occasion.

Hmmm...we may have to fight this out then. I don't often find enough time for RGP although I love them but do play the odd shoot-em-up. She likes RPG as she said. Still, I got the car so can get to the shop first..... :)

But then as much as I like Baldur's Gate, FF has a special place in my heart.

Check out morrowwind elderscrolls, that will take xbox to a new level...also mech assault will crack you out for sure...

PS3 wont be out for yeeeeeaaaaarsss. Took them forever to just get the PS2 ready.

You took the words right outta my mouth. In console years, the PS2 still has about another 2 years before they come out with a new system.

Im sorry but my definition of a "game" isnt 6 hours of cutscenes and pressing X over and over again.IMHO FF7 was the best one out of the bunch and the storyline was excellent.The new FFXI will NOT do well due to the extra pricing for a network adapter and the requirement of buying a harddrive.

Get both a PS2 AND a gamecube. There are enough killer exclusive games and stuff on each to make it worth your while to have em both!!
