Programs looking for a full time video editor
Thought I'd post this out of curiosity. I've always wandered what the response would be.
Thos that don't know who I am, well, I'm a professional video editor/animator/compositor and a buttload of other things. I've always been freelance and have worked with some top notch people in the bizz. When it comes to video, I can basically do anything. Really... no joke lol I'm pretty well equipped and have experience that would impress most people. Anyhow, I was wondering if there was a program, or company out there that needed a senior editor on staff. Someone who has the flair to make a clip fun and worth watching. Someone who can make your content stand out from the rest: Contact me As for salary, anything under 70k$ a year won't be worth my time. I'm not actively looking for employment. I have a full plate of projects. But I've always wondered what it would be like to work for a big company :) Hit me up if interested or have any questions. I'm interested to see what ppl will think :) |
good luck bro if not i have some small jobs for u to do

Hehe thanks :) I'm curious more than anything else :) |
Good editors are hard to find.
** Bump ** |
IMO good content needs no editing on compression :pimp

Ummm, ya, if you shoot a scene from end to end without cutting maybe... |

oh, and technically, by the time you come to compress your vids, your editing SHOULD be done and not need anymore editing... so, technically your right ;) |
Maybe not a good thing to say "You're just doing it out of curiosity"...

Why not be freelance anymore I thought you were busy?

When I freelance in broadcasting some of my best years where with only a hand full of clients (about 30) ... The security of a job with benifits is always an allure to a freelancer .. but once he's punching that timeclock things change quickly :) |
i used to work in the live sound industry as a freelancer.
a few years ago i took a job working as staff in a theater. got sucked in by the security and the benefits. i find myself hating the structure of my current situation. maybe i just feel like i sold out to the man. in any case, in my opinion, people that freelance in the entertainment industries are a special breed. cant hurt to get a feel tho. ps 30 posts! |

Oh I am busy, WAY busy. But I'm curious to see if I would be better working regular hours for a single client with a steady income. Right now I,m making good money, but I'm working 7 days a week, 15-16 hours a day. Its fun... but I can't keep this pace up forever. I wanna see if I can jump the fence and settle down with a program that can keep me challenged |

I know what you mean, I used to work in TV as a director on staff. The security was fun, but, like you, I hated the people I was stuck with and eventually turned to freelancing. Why do I want to try it again? a) Why not? Different situations... b) I'm older and more confident now. If I don't like the situation I'm in, I can leave without hesitation |

Where I come from, mainstream video is a dead end road, and there is no film industry around here. I'm slowly making my move to mainstream productions in bigger cities, but it takes time to do so. But for now, I'm doing adult, and thats the way it is lol |

How do you keep from burning out your eyes? if I edit for 16 hours a day for more than a few days in a row I get blinding headaches. |

I sat in with our in house editor for a few hours and my head was spinning :ohcrap |
$70k???
in this industry plumb full of outsourcing companies. you could hire like 15 philipinos for that price. not saying thats the route i would take. but i ono if this is the place to look. |

Training and mental focus... plus I grew up watching TV, so my eyes are used to it. |

Easy. I can GUARANTEE, with 100% certainty, that not a single outsourcing company can do what I do. None of them are at my level. There is a difference between a an indian/philipinno that can slap 2-3 clips together, put some music and encode for the web, and an editor that can take those 2-3 same clips, re-arrange them in a manner that is appealing to the eye and actually make the video fun/sexy to watch. And thats without counting the specialty encoding, special effects and animations that come along with it. Add to that a sense of marketing, branding and someone who is completely fluent in english with whom you can have a proper conversation. An outsourcing company will get the work done. I will bring your company to a new level. Thats the difference between the outsourced editors and I. |

Yeah.. I think you would see the difference from in the videos. I would like to see what a Philipino has for an idea of a good quality video. :winkwink: |
its porn, who cares if its pretty, i dont think a dude with a dick in his hand cares about flashy cool animated shit.
