Thinking about getting some of you guys to do some design for me, free sites, galleries, you know the kind of thing...

Question is,
Do I need to provide you guys with the content for you to work with, or do you use your own licenced content?

The client should provide contents for their designers to work in. and It is advisable to have them all in raw materials still. ( meaning originals and not yet tampered ).
