They hired me to do a bunch of work, sent a deposit and now has flaked out on the balance due. I didn't hear from the guy all week and on Monday the day I was to be paid I get an e-mail from his wife saying he is in the hospital and to give her a call on her cell. For some strange reason she gave me her husband's cell number instead of her own. Her husband had given me her number from before and after calling it a hundred times she answers and said she would take care of the bill and I have heard the same thing everyday except today. Now she won't respond and had the ftp account info changed so I couldn't take down the tgp galleries I put up.
So beware!!

It does suck. 3 weeks of work for nothing but the deposit and a load of lies.

If it makes you feel any better.. I was their host for over a year and they always paid their bills. If the work was completed to their satisfaction, I am sure they will pay the bill.

Just my 2 cents, they're not the type to welch on a debt :)

That's all well and good, but now this guy is put in a bind because of it...and that shouldn't be the case.

Designers get shafted like this all time. And to be honest, the hospital excuse is something I've heard more than once.

They had time to change their ftp info, someone could have found time to pay me.

I hear this all the time - really sorry for whats going on - hospital or not - there is no excuse for blowing someone off like this. If i was faced with hosptial I would have the decency to make sure that someone looked after my bills etc. Wonder if hydro - bell and water people will forget about the bill and take being sick as an excuse and wait.

They are a managed hosting client and moved hosts to CamZ network, Bill had nothing to do with his FTP info changing. I know this because they used to be my client for a long period of time.

If dustman and his wife say he's in the hospital then it is true and credible. Nonetheless, I hope that your issue is resolved soon.

The ftp login was fine this morning and they had switched over to Camz since I started doing the work. It was changed so I would not take the tgp galleries down I did not get paid for.

the second half of a deposit always seems to take forever... it takes patience and tact sometimes to get it all.

I took it from the text message that I might as well give up on seeing it.

Sometimes people temporarily act a little wacky when hospital stuff is involved. Hopefully she comes back to her senses when things settle down on their end. None the less it is very frustrating from your end, we all know that.

Christ, someone is in the hospital and this is how you react? Grow a heart, dude. I've had dealings with them before and they are not scammers.

Oh well, life goes on. I just don't want someone else getting screwed, this board is where they were looking for someone to do some work for them.

If I had to put my shit off everytime someone had a problem I would be living in the street. How long should I wait?

If I (or my significant other) was in the hospital and you called me every single day... I'd stop answering your calls too.

If your processing company or sponsors did that I'm sure you would not wait forever before figuring you was not getting it.

I received an e-mail telling me to give her a call but she gave her me her sick husbands number not hers. She would e-mail me or text message me telling me she would take care of it the next day but never did. Don't tell me something you have no plans on doing in the first place.

It's been 2 weeks since I last talked to the guy that hired me. A week went by with no contact until I received the e-mail from his wife on Monday telling me to call her.

well quite honestly two weeks in this business is not alot - my wife is a designer and sometimes it takes longer to get her money. Sadly designers are not on a priority high when it comes to paying since their services are complete and most think they can hold off for a few days/weeks to get paid - unlike other more demanding payments.

sadly you have fallen into the category of 2nd bill pile. You more than likley will get paid though it does suck when you dont get the respect and treatment as someone more "important" to a company. I have seen it all the time in my 10 years of this business. It sucks - be a bit more patient.

Rule to love by. Host the stuff on YOUR server, and when they OK, and then PAY THEN AND ONLY THEN do you put it on their server.

I was putting the templates up and submitting them and getting paid by the week. So I figured that is why she kept saying she would take care of it tomorrow so I would keep the traffic moving to the site.

You brought this here a bit early. While it's true you have to get paid for your work burning bridges with everyone that is late isn't the best thing in the world to do either. :2 cents:

I do wish now that I held off for a while but I can't take it back now. After receiving that text message I got really pissed.
