Paypal a good billing option?

I'm about to setup a little service that would cost like $10-15/month.

Can paypal handle recurring memberships or would the people need to re-signup each month?

If paypal cannot handle recurring payments, is their a CC processor who can setup an account for free?
I have no idea if my idea with fly or not, and I don't want to pay a large setup fee.

Paypal is always a good option, of course that also depends on what they've worked out with Mastercard come tomorrow.

We don't charge you anything to set up an account or get it installed, however you do have to have a tour and members area, or whatever you are using, in place before we can actually approve an account for you.

If you have any questions, by all means let me know

paypal will most likely work something out with MC

i mean shit, mc makes alot off of paypal
they get all the customers credit card to send them forms to signup for true credit cards, as mastercard issues a paypal chequeing mastercard so they got all your infos anyways!

Your idea of alot and Mastercard's idea of alot are probably as far apart as night and day.

With that said, I certainly hope they do work out something since I like Paypal.

I can't back this up, but when I was looking to setup my merchant account, the word was PayPal is about to dis the adult webmasters. You can use 2checkout.com, they deal with recurring and everything you could expect from a good merchant account, they have a one time setup fee of $49.95 and no setup fees or bull shit, they also have a problem with adult content, they are willing to deal with each account on specific circumstances. You must contact an agent first and tell them what your site exactly is all about. I was told that I can have adult links, but no actual content on my site, which for my needs was fine. I am sure if your main page is only softcore and your protected areas are more, then this should not be a problem. As I said they judge each case independently.

Kimmykim this isn't for a paysite.
Might as well spill the beans:

I will have 3 tgps setup that all share the same galleries submitted.

I wanted to setup an option where the gallery submitters can spend $10-15/month (haven't decided)

By spending the money, they will be able to get their gallery listed every single day without delay, + be placed at the top.

Everyday the people with the "membership" get listed first, and the ones using the free submit will be placed below them.

With this new info presented, what do you people recommend?

reddawg 04-30-2002 11:25 AM

:BangBang: I meant no monthly fees, so I am a dumb ass!

We do some stuff like that for people already LAC, let me know if you want to try it.

LoveAsianChicks 04-30-2002 11:31 AM

I always jump the gun when I get an idea, I was looking for some early input.
I wasn't trying to get this setup today or anything. My plan is 1-2 weeks.
I'll make note of the info provided and likely contact you or netbilling soon.

Would paypal + CC processor be a good idea or would just 1 be fine?

RaGe 04-30-2002 12:04 PM

Always good to have a primary and backup. Use a cc processor as primary, and include something that says 'if your card was declined, try using Paypal' or whatever.

NETbilling 04-30-2002 12:06 PM

Rage is correct... a backup is always good.

go with kimmykims advice or mitch

dealing with paypal, such a big company, will probably be a pain, if they treat you the same way they treat their reg. customers who purchase stuff :)

you have an excellent idea though (charging for guaranteed listings)

Kimmykim 04-30-2002 01:32 PM

My suggestion, any time you've got something you need to take in money for, is to do it as many ways as you can.

1. Primary CC
2. Checks
3. Backup CC
4. Foreign cards for foreign transactions wherever possible.
5. Dialers (doesn't really compute in your situation).
6. Alternative pay methods like Paypal.

If you'll sort your potential payees out by where they are coming from and what sort of currency they have (very easy to do with your type of setup, a custom pre-join page would do the trick with no real work on your part to set it up) you'll find yourself netting a good bit more money all around.

If you need some help, let me know, regardless of who you choose for your processing.

LoveAsianChicks 04-30-2002 01:36 PM

thanks for all the info and suggestions.
