Im not religious either but i still wish people Merry Christmas and Happy Easter...and i do know better...its the spirit of the irish/american holiday...i could care less...

Actually i am a second generation american born and bred in South Boston... I know my roots and family history very well...i still have irish blood but just happen to also have an american birth certificate...:321GFY

Oh and im very aware that Ireland doesnt celebrate (or didnt up until about 10 years ago) "St. Paddy's/St.Patty's" the way we do in the states...but really the first American St. Patrick?s Day celebration was in Boston in 1737...the custom was started by the Charitable Irish Society of Boston (a Protestant organization founded that year to help needy Irishmen)...and up until 1996 (when Dublin launched its first annual festival) St. Patrick's Day festivities in Ireland ranged from very small to nonexistent...

so once again...Happy St. Patrick's Day...Happy St. Paddy's Day...and Happy St. Patty's Day...now go drink a couple of beers and a few shots of whiskey...
