It is a good question these days.

Why pay for a candy bar at the checkout when you have food at home already bought and paid for? Its an impulse buy. People see it and then want it. I think that very few surfers actually wake up in the morning and decide that they will buy some porn that day. They surf and suddenly see something that gets them aroused enough to want more so they pull out their credit card for some instant satisfaction. Its pretty simple.

Free preview stuff is often just the 'tip of the iceberg' on good quality sites.

Most free stuff is downsized to conserve bandwidth on TGP sites. Paysites generally go with better quality hi-res versions.

Just a few reasons...

No matter how much free stuff people see if they like it they will pay to see what they are missing. They don;t want to feel like they are being left out. That's why tgps work so well. I know I can't bust unless I know I've found the best pic in the set. So if its just a preview and I like it, I pay to see the whole set or vid. Its the human condition, at least in the USA... actually maybe just for me :Oh crap

It's all in the numbers. The vast majority of people DO NOT PAY for porn.

In relation to the amount of porn distributed, the industry is probably only making revenues on a very tiny percent of it. I'd estimate way less than 1% of content distributed creates the industy's money.

However the Internet has become so vast that even generating revenues on a minute % translates into billions of dollars.

Figuring the industry as a whole does about 90,000 paid cc transactions daily that's 2.7 million per month. If you figure 10% of the 5 billion searches per month are porn related, that's 2.7 million per 500 million which works out to .54% for example.

Well first of all a lot of TGPs/MPGs have the same shit over and over. Amazing how some chicks have HUNDREDS of movies filmed yet the same 6 scenes show up on TGPS.

Second, clips are often short and leave out the good parts and are low quality.

Thirdly most times when you click a gallery link you get sent to another TGP/MPG and not the actual gallery.

Spending a few $ and finding exactly what I want without spending all fucking day looking for decent shit just to settle for some crapy 20 second clip because you're tired of looking is worth it sometimes.

thats just a page that is meant to seem like tons of free porn (good way to get the url passed around from buddy to buddy) but really just a list of FHG's with link descriptions. im sure dude is making a few bucks off of that. its basically just another version of a tgp.

well with the VOD models, AEBN and the like, its kinda like iTunes.. so many movies at your fingetips, easily accessible, extremely convenient, top quality. You can always find what you want, exaclty when you want it.

Why do people use iTunes when they can jump on a file sharing network and get everything for free? Convenience.. eventually a surfer gets fed up trying to be cheap and settling for scavanged, chopped up free clips, and shitty movies off peer to peer networks that arent what they say they are and want something high quality, right away.
