Does your money work for you or do you WORK FOR it?

The topic says it all..

kinda sad to see people with lots of financial resources, yet don't even know LIVE but rather EXIST... eh

:Oh crap

StuartD 03-16-2006 05:26 PM

Sounds like a "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" kind of question.

justsexxx 03-16-2006 05:27 PM

RRRED 03-16-2006 05:27 PM

Yeah I wash my car with wads of hundred dollar bills.. it keeps it streak free... Then I sit and work all day at the computer for fun :thumbsup

Scott McD 03-16-2006 05:31 PM

I use money to buy whores.

Does that mean it works for me ??

Spunky 03-16-2006 05:33 PM

Sounds like a ING direct commercial

Rui 03-16-2006 05:38 PM

Not really...this is quite a straight forward question ;)

For instance, I'm talking about work-addicts that spend most of their lifehahaha8217;s, specially their prime-time always working for that extra buck and don't bother to see anything else or actually enjoy it...

That does sound alot like me actually. Honestly though, I don't have many hobbies or things of interest outside of my work so I do keep myself rather busy working...

You must do other things besides working on your white/grey/black/purple-hat SEO projects tho...

I mean if not what motivates you to go forward...

Life is so much more than a bank balance :winkwink:

I love movies, going to cinemas, sport events, watching sport in TV, I work-out, love to drive cars, love to travel, play guitar and have a few more hobbies. Add work and family to it. And I somehow still have plenty of free time. I guess I can manage my time. :)

At least you'll have some money saved when you find something that really interests you :)

justsexxx 03-16-2006 05:59 PM

I have hobbies(playing soccer, visiting museums, visting cities I have never been, (driving)cars, and many more.
Actually I have a big interest for many things.

Besides that I spend time with friend and family(last one is easy for me, since I have a very small family:))

Money is important, since it pays my bills, interests and gives me the ability todo 'fun' things. However, I prefer enjoying live now, then saving it all for when I am 50. I do save for retirement tho...

everestcash 03-17-2006 03:56 AM

mostly i work for it, but always on the search to make it work for me

JimmiDean 03-17-2006 04:34 AM

I place 20% of everything we make into investments.
I love to work but not forever.
As someone who was raised in a low rental housing project trust me money, savings and the financial independance to chooses to work or not are.

bellskids 03-17-2006 04:41 AM

Right now im the latter but the work im putting in now will hopefully lead to me becoming part of the former category. I have missed so many opportunities over the years, but hell I was young and theres still plenty of time to put things right :) I want to retire in 10 years time, Im sure I can do it.

I am a hahahaha and work 24/7 I work in my sleep thinking of new projects or ideas on how to do something better. I can't stop my mind from thinking. But see I ENJOY creating new projects, working on them, investing my money. I can go look at new building sites for realestate or work tweak some design on a page that one of my designers made, and I enjoy doing this, which really is work.

I invest about 90% of what i make after modest living expenses. I take a trip to Vegas here and there for a couple days, I own a H2 (which i wrote off and only wind up costing me 35K after tax breaks). But I blow very very little money. Instead of blowing it on extra 80K cars, or 40ft boats, or all the other toys that people blow it on, i have more fun investing it and adding another income producing source to my portfolio.

My goal 7 years ago was to retire at 30. While everyone else who made money blew it I reinvest it. To answer you question does your money work for you or do you work for you money. Your money works for you when you invest it and it makes you money back. Eventually you sit on the beach and dont have to work, and your money is out there working for you making you more money. However this can only be accomplished if you don't blow your money as fast as you make it. I would rather bust my ass for 10 years and live financially free the last 40 years of my life then work 9 - 5 for the next 40 years and die. fuck that.

and i ask you, what motivates you to go forward each day working pay check to pay check for the rest of your life. Fuck, working 9 - 5 till you are in your 70's isn't living either, thats a waste of a life.

if you were spinning your wheels i would agree. by saying spinning your wheels i mean, you work a lot and make some money, but one way or the other at the end of the day you really have accomulated nothing. Maybe you work a lot but spend a lot. Maybe you work a lot and don't work productivly or you work a lot and just for what ever reason you don't make a lot of money. So in this case, i agree why bust your ass if you are not building investments that can retire you. If this was the case i wouldn't work so hard, i would work just enough to pay t he bills, because either way you working till you die. so why work 12 hours a day when you can go get a job and work 8 hours a day.

Now if you are making money, spending modestly, and every week, you put xxxx amount aside for your next investment, then you have a LOT to keep you going. For people like me, watching your portfolio grow and expand is more of a high then drugs are for a lot of you here.
