Will US banks accept a check torn in 2?

In my enthusiasm to open the post this morning, I accidently tore a check from Epoch into 2 peices.

Will US banks accept a check if it is sellotaped together ?

Most should. Paperclip a note to it saying what happened. Actually a check should say void on both parts before it should be totally refused. We've torn checks a few times and not had any problems. :)

As long as there are no pieces missing, it's ok. I got a check once, but it had a little piece that was torn missing, the bank did not accept it.

Er, I always thought it was as long as the routing/account numbers were intact..

You don't have to worry about it, the bank does not have any branches in Czech Rep.

sometimes if some security features are missing they might not accept it, i guess if you have the whole check that'll do. i tore up a check once too and it was accepted.

If your bank has any problem with your torn check then I will get you one reissued asap.
