Kazaa is about to Hijack User's PC's ...
Apperntly Kazaa has Altnet built into it and they are about to start hijacking Pcs.
Read about it here: http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2002/...441306209.html I feel like chicken little <a href="http://www.dirtydollar.com"><img src="http://www.sexcontents.com/kitty/ddsmall.gif"></a> <a href="http://www.sexcontents.com"><img src="http://www.sexcontents.com/kitty/sexcontents.gif"></a> |
Oh shit!:waaaaahh :uhoh
What I am wondering is, after you uninstall it, will the trojan still be there? |
:uhoh format c: ?
|
I was wondering the same
Time to format C: :winkwink: |
And that all without any payment to the owner of the PC.
|
kazaa has always been a worthless POS program with nothing but spyware written all over it.I shall stick to FTp's and WINMX to get my songs and movies
|
|
I think you can remove that goblin they put in Kazaa by deleting a file named: bdeviewer.exe
|
hmmm lets hijack millions of computers and spend life in jail.
I can't see this happening. |
i knew i read this somewhere. get rid of it this way.:GFYBand
|
for future reference you can download a spyware free kazaa client here: http://www.kazaalite.com
|
Hey dipshit moron retard,
Welcome and GFY! |
"hijacking Pc's"...ta hell would they do? They cant do shit with min eexcept play golf and photoshop some graphics :thumbsup ...that article is the biggest bunch of bull...Kazaa makes money from advertising, why would they steal some 16 year old kids(probably the average age) computer?...doesnt make sense

nocost, the idea is to use your computer's resources (cpu cycles, ram, etc) to perform their own distributed computing tasks, following a model like seti@home (who actually uses volunteers instead of tricking customers into it). This saves them boatloads of money on servers, and gives them something much more powerful than they can likely buy anyway. They're not interested in using any of your personal software (yet).
And from what i've been reading here, they probably have plenty of reason to not be satisfied with advertising to 16 year olds :1orglaugh |
won't happen dude... millions of pc's can't be "hijacked" without people going to jail...doesn't add up
|
TOSS MY SALAD AND DON'T CALL ME IN THE MORNING!

OMG! It really happens! My computer just got hijacked and the Kazaa CEO "Frank Rizzo" typed that message. Frank is an ass muncher! :Buck: |
What exactly is it gonna do? Pop xxx-consoles? Auto-click "Dial" on dialers? :)
|
I recently read on Slashdot that there's just as much junk on Kazaalite as there is on the original Kazaa program ...
Let's face it ... there ain't no such thing as a free lunch guys ... People are going to make their money one way or the other ... Funny thing is ... Kazaa is threatening to sue the Kazaalite people for infringing on their intellectual property rights ... While Kazaa is being sued by the entertainment industry for infringing on their rights ... Go figure ... |

LOL
How ironic. The only people who will have their computers stolen are the people who use Kazaa to steal software and music. |
so don't download the shit. Simple as that.

It will serve them all right. What goes around comes around. Let the cheaters all steal from the cheaters...LOL..some funny shit if you ask me. |
If you remove the "Brilliant Digital" software and remove the spyware that is setup on install - is Kazaa harmless at this point, or is there other files I need to remove?
If Kazaa isn't safe at this point in time, would uninstalling it remove any leftover trogans I missed? |
This is fairly old news.. Adaware removes all of the Brilliant Digital stuff, which was not to hijack your computer, but when they activated it, your computer would be used in an "alternate" p2p network to serve ads. ;>
Kazaalite is the spyware-removed version of Kazaa, but really, the more ethical way is to simply not use Kazaa. Use Gnucleus or Limewire (The Pro version without spyware), or whatever.. Don't cheat Kazaa. Cheers, Backov |

Thank's for the News Kitty..:)

Got a point there .... It's always interesting to see adult webmasters ... who presumably rely upon paying customers for revenues ... supporting and using programs that ultimately cut into those revenues ... LOL |

When they all encourage piracy which ultimately hurts everybody in our business ... |
Quote:
Supposedly this feature was disclosed in the TOS ... But nobody really heard about it until the tech press happened to pick up on an obscure SEC filing which mentioned it ... Otherwise ... nobody might have heard about this at all ... So who really knows what Kazaa is capable of doing? Personally ... I've never installed it. Not just because of these problems .... but I've read too many reports of people having trouble removing Kazaa from their systems ... |
i told you bastard to use mac but nobody listens to me
|
nocost, it's definitely real, it's not about "hijacking" your pc in any conventional sense, but using say 20% of your cpu which you normally wouldn't even notice. Erotic, there were never any stories on slashdot about kazaalite having spyware, here is the thread: http://slashdot.org/article.plsid=02...28&mode=thread
regardless, i think everyone has the moral of the story right, you reap what you sew, if you use free piracy software put out by a company who needs to make a buck somehow, expect to get fisted. :2 cents: |

Bottom line - they are not illegal, only certain ways to use them are. Cheers, Backov |

When the infringing activity far exceeds any non-infringing activity ... which Kazaa does ... then it's probably illegal ... The courts will decide, of course, but Kazaa has not yet been successful in dismissing the LA case ... P.S. Dip ... if I recall correctly there was one recent Slashdot thread (your link doesn't seem to be working BTW) where people talked about other kazaalite problems besides spyware ... but I could be wrong ... |
