Should I fight this ticket?
So my street is no parking from 7-11 every second wednesday of the month for street sweeping. So its like 7:15 or so and im walking out to my car to move it. and right as im walking out, the sweeper comes by and passes me - right behind him is this prick ticket agent who must be all of 18 years old. He starts writing me the ticket! I was literally 5 feet from my car when the thing passed me... think its worth fighting?

Nonmoving violation - nope

You're going to have a hard time proving that 7:15 isn't between 7:00 and 11:00.

Pay the ticket if it's $32, you're time should be worth more then that to go fight it

That's a ticket I'd just pay.
A couple of weeks ago though, I got a ticket for parking on a street for 48 hours. It's the street directly in front of my house, so it's pretty much a bullshit law to keep derelict vehicles away. Granted we don't move the car much because it's our secondary vehicle, but it's a residential neighborhood, doesn't bother anyone and it's got plates. Regardless, we got a ticket. Upon closer inspection, the ticket said it was chalked at 1:30 am on the 17th and TICKETED at 2:40 pm on the 17th. I just went in to city hall and said I don't want to pay this ticket. She laughed and said noone WANTS to pay their tickets. When I pointed out that the law is 48 hours, and the time between chalking and the actual ticket was only about 12 hours, she told me it looks like they fucked up and tore up the ticket. I would have fought that one no matter the cost, if for no other reason than to point out a stupid law. |
just pay it... you really can't prove that you were 5 feet away from the car when the ticket was issued and once they start writing the ticket thats it theres no turning back. and it's a town oridance most likely so it's a money maker for them. we have a town ordinance for overnight parking on the street if your car is parked on the street between the hours of 2 am and 6am you get a $25 ticket i've gotten quite a few... but theres really nothing you can do about.. non-moving violation and no way to prove the circumstances...

You clearly stated in your post you broke the law. Pay the man.:Oh crap
