It is more or less as they say - ie.. the longer your retain your account with them - they increase disk storage and bandwidth.

Using Dreamhost promo codes and prepaying two years and no setup charges etc - your account can cost under $3/month for eg 60 gigs/storage, 1.5 TB of BW etc. For a spare account to play with, testing stuff or hosting a few sites, - it's hard to beat.

Downside is, there are no IP's included and they cost about $4 each/month (but even adding a few - it's still CHEAP).

Bottom line... cheap as hell, - OK for hosting feeder sites with an IP, but would doubt putting "cash register" or important sites there.

PS... I'm sure someone here has some Dreamhost promo codes to use or do a google on "Dreamhost codes".

Thanks that's what I wanted to hear... I'm looking to move my pay-sites to a server that will give me more space than I have now. I don't want any down-time or now shit like that... I was looking at godaddy's virutal dedicated packages... Is there any reason why I shouldn't host with them?

Moving a paysite on there would be suicidal

I actually had an account there; unfortunately I needed some things that they could not help me with. Refund was no problem and their support was grade A.

promo code SAVE55 will get you a $55 discount.

Juilan 03-15-2006 09:24 AM

As a Dreamhost customer for 3 years, IMHO Dreamhost virtual is not appropriate for a paysite. Going with a Dreamhost dedicated server and business level 24/7 support may be survivable if your strapped for cash. There are some big sites on dreamhost dedicated. One I know well is Alexa ranked 37,245 and speed rated at Fast (72% are slower). Having said that, there are many other providers for adult paysite hosting that would certainly suit your needs better for more money.

Dreamhost is an excellent choice for newbies, blogs, freesites and side experiments.
Anyone who wants to use Dreamhost can use my Promocode: JULES
This takes $97 off the yearly L1 plan that initially costs $119.40.
I get nothing from your purchase. Take my commission, have a coke and a smile.

i have MGP galleries on a dreamhost box -i wouldn't reccomend thier virtual hostnig that's heavy on bandwith =(

deuter 03-15-2006 09:49 AM

check some hosting comparison site like webhostingspotter.com or google for other.Dreamhost is cheap, good for smaller sites.

WebairGerard 03-15-2006 10:27 AM

You really like to have problems ???

You want to host ADULT sites : stay with Adult friendly hosts ( not to say specialized )....
Many herewill offer you some decent virtual account, and they know what you are doing...

Or go with a mainstream guy, and wake-up one morning with:

" Account suspended - please contact administration "

:2 cents:

webair 03-15-2006 11:16 AM

They were down for liek 48 hours about 4 months back...That's a bit long for a host to be down IMHO no matter how cheap they are...

hit me up ill get you a super deal with far less headaches

I think you might want to qualify that statement.

I've hosted with them for over a year with very little down time, and certainly not two days.

they're not great, but they're handy for less important sites that don't need 24/7 support and don't need 100% reliability

cheap and cheerful I think the saying goes

Yep, just tried it! Apparently I now have 1TB of bandwidth per month for the equivalent of just $0.83 per month! I'll throw up some movie galleries on there and see how long it lasts...

Wiggles 03-15-2006 01:33 PM

the fact that dreamhost is spammed all over puts me off personally.
