Squatting on a domain advice

to sum it up, heres the following:

there was a domain, it was available to reg

i offered the school to take it. They didnt take it.

I regged it.

2+ years has pass and no complaints. I used it for personal stuff.

January 2006, some association from the school wanted the domain because i decided to put up porn and it was soiled their name.

Here are the facts: Its an acroymn, its not a trademark, its not a copyright. Its a slang meaning. (similiar to OPP... you know what OPP stands for?). The site gets 30 uniques a day.

I want to sell it coz i know the more drama i create, the more they would want this domain.

Thoughts?

'nuff said ?

If they have no legal rights to it and didnt reg it when you gave them the chance, their loss...

If you wanna be a nice guy though, give it to them, but in return they will have google and archive.org results for porn :2 cents:

as long as you don't connect the site to education through ads or anything you should be fine, but you might want to talk to a domain lawyer just in case; they can send a formal letter back to the school.

if i said hbs, ppl wouldnt know what it means. But those that went to harvard would know.

same thing pretty much in my case.

webair 03-14-2006 11:54 AM

you contacted them first to solicit the domain?

Rex 03-14-2006 11:58 AM

i told someone who was empowered to register this domain and use for their school's purpose. They didnt respond to me after 2 months. At that point it was still available to register.

They solicited me after i sent the link to some acquantances that i know on my msn list. it spread from there i guess.
