In the past 6 months three of my friends went from riches to rags because of gambling

ok, they weren't millioners but they had reasonably good businesses, and now two of them are selling their houses, and the third one has only 6-7 cars in his car dealership (the place used to be packed with 50+ cars at all times)

I don't think I even understand what the big thrill about gambling is, I've only played couple of times in casinos and never lost more than 50-100 bucks at a time, how can a guy gamble all his money away is beyond me!!!???

WiredGuy 03-13-2006 12:37 PM

I can understand their pains. Damn Caribbean Poker is gonna get my life savings...

Trax 03-13-2006 01:05 PM

Mr. Romance 03-13-2006 01:09 PM

DraX 03-13-2006 01:10 PM

I gamble alot too, the big problem for me is where i put all the money from winnings

Hope your friends get some luck, but not everybody can win

Tom_PM 03-13-2006 01:11 PM

You cant think of it like "I'm going to win $1000 tonight", you have to have more of a "I'm going to spend $10 tonight" and leave it at that.

I love that game:thumbsup

RRRED 03-13-2006 01:12 PM

That sucks. I have an indian res casino 5 minutes from my house and I see alot of people where I live totally fuck up their lives going to that place. I rarely ever go anymore but I do love to play a little pai gow and blackjack.

You ever try Pai Gow?

WebairGerard 03-13-2006 01:12 PM

That sucks! self control is the key and most people don't have it.

Nom_is 03-13-2006 01:13 PM

People seldom do what is in their best interests, but if they cannot even exercise control with poker then they are fucking stupid.

tranza 03-13-2006 01:15 PM

That's fucked up bro.

:(

damn, that's sad

I worked as a casino host during the Tampa bay/Raiders game, we had 400 families that mortgaged or sold their homes to bet on the Raiders, the raiders lost and they all lost their homes and went broke, I had to help 3 families sell their cars so they could have money to get home and figure out a place to live.

It is a tragic disease.

I think gambling is fine, just have to control the spending.

Tell them to keep at it. They're only a loser if they quit.

i can't seem to loose on that game. I've been 6 times in the last 3 weeks - never made less than $400 profit EACH time.

Lace 03-13-2006 02:09 PM

I love gambling, youve just got to know self control..Set limits.

Tat2Jr 03-13-2006 02:10 PM

I like spending my money on women and drugs. Much better bang for the buck!

gornyhuy 03-13-2006 02:10 PM

I think some people just have addiction in their personality or their brain chemistry - be it drugs, gambling, sex, whatever - they just get into an obsessive phase on something and nothing but devastation will crack it.

After 3 consecutive times of going to the casino and losing $1000 each time, I finally got a descent return last time. Niagra must have it in for me.

Let me answer by a question. At the end of the day, do you know a casino that's short? If not, it's because odds are and always will be against you.

The worst that can happen to anyone is to win the first time.

tristan_D 03-13-2006 07:01 PM

I guess we should all learn from this

High Plains Drifter 03-13-2006 07:06 PM

Gambling is a terrible, terrible thing.... unless you're profiting from it.

xNetworx 03-13-2006 07:07 PM

Fuck Gambling.... unless you are good at it :thumbsup

nick1980 03-13-2006 09:56 PM

That should serve as lesson for everyone here not to gamble always.

chadglni 03-13-2006 10:13 PM

Teach your friends to play poker.

tony286 03-13-2006 10:26 PM

Addiction can be a terrible disease.
