Accoona takes on Google
Accoona said it has over $100 million in financial backing from private investment funds.
In addition, Accoona has an agreement with the China Daily Information Company to become the preferred search engine portal across China for the next 20 years on an exclusive basis. http://www.eetuk.com/tech/news/showA...leID=181502201 December 2004 Former president Bill Clinton on Monday helped launch a new Internet search company backed by the Chinese government which says its technology uses artificial intelligence to produce better results than Google Inc. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6666890/ |
Interesting read. Lets wait and see what happens
|
What is Clinton up to lately? Accepting 800k from Arabs to promote their image, saying that free speech should be curtailed in the US and now promoting a company which the Chinese will use to block access to information. Has he gone nutty like Jimmy Carter?

uses AI for searches....interesting
|
They say its artificial intelegence - but its actually a million chinese getting paid a $ a day to index it all by hand.
|
AI ... wtf do they think google uses?
Googlebot is a prime example of an AI agent, their indexing algorithms also use probabilities etc. Just a lot of buzzwords to create hype is all it is. I'll believe the relevancy when I see it. |
AI my ass... looks like paid listings to me.

That's what I thought too, but it looks like they're just using overture as a tracking service. Most of the clicks don't seem like paid links, hell most of the results I see are actually Wikipedia links. Seems a little primative in its results but I really do hope they gain some momentum. WG |

Well the chinese have always had their hand in his back pocket, even when he was prez. |
I've used it a bit today.. I kind of like the results. Not bad overall.
Do some searches, and compare the results with Google. Seems a lot less spammy, and more authoritative and interesting. I didn't search for porn yet. http://www.accoona.com |
