Would you walk away from a huge deal if it simply felt wrong?

Of course I will not be taking the advice of GFYers on this, but wanted to discuss.

Would you walk away from a VERY large deal, with lots of zeros, if for no other reason than it felt wrong? All the numbers add up, everything is in place, but your gut tells you to pass.

(BTW.. this has nothing to do with the new program I am opening. lol Totally unrelated. That feels so right I have a boner 24/7.)

MaDalton 03-12-2006 04:10 PM

did that a couple of times - and it was always right in the long run

MrIzzz 03-12-2006 04:11 PM

yup, i've already done it several times in this biz. i dont trust anyone in adult when it comes to my money

StuartD 03-12-2006 04:15 PM

I've done it as well.

tranza 03-12-2006 04:22 PM

If EVRYTHING adds up, I wouldn't walk away.

But that's NEVER the case.

EdgeXXX 03-12-2006 05:11 PM

I've done it multiple times... no regrets here

ThumbLord 03-12-2006 05:16 PM

yep ............... done it and no regrets

jacked 03-12-2006 05:19 PM

i'd go with your gut feeling... if it doesn't feel right somethings probably up.. "if it sounds to good to be true it probably is..."

eurorevenue 03-12-2006 05:19 PM

always trust your gut feeling, has worked best for me.

SteveLightspeed 03-12-2006 05:20 PM

Same advice from me, go with your gut. I've turned down lots of dirty deals.

ALWAYS trust your gut and your instincts. Thats your subconscious mind telling you something is wrong BEFORE you have the chance to intellectualize it and rationalize and explain your doubts away.

If you feel something is wrong... walk away. It means you already know there is a problem.

I often rely on intuition to guide decisions. Sometimes I'm wrong...but more times I'm right. And like the old cliche goes - better to err on the side of caution.

I'm sorry you don't get to enjoy working without the worries. I only work with a handful of people but each one gets it straight and is straight with me.

Yes I have been fucked 5000 times but the good ones make up for it ten fold. :2 cents:

sonofsam 03-12-2006 05:31 PM

i was in mcdonalds and i ordered a double big mac meal

and when it came... something seemed fishy

so i knocked out the old lady standing beside me and then i started singing the village people songs and took my pants off

Grapesoda 03-12-2006 06:02 PM

the one time I didn't cost me big time . .

Furious_Male 03-12-2006 06:06 PM

Trust your gut but if the numbers add up it wouldn't hurt to get one or two opinions from people really close to you. They may be able to shed some light on whats bugging you about the deal.

Major (Tom) 03-12-2006 06:09 PM

depends what makes it dirty..
is it more of a feeling? or something shady. if its shady stay away for sure. if its a gut feeling sleep on it

duke

Rui 03-12-2006 06:21 PM

Did it more than once...

d_train 03-12-2006 06:39 PM

if its too good to be true, most of the times its not true and its not good

nick1980 03-12-2006 09:03 PM

Although it's a hard decision to make, I will still choose to give up that deal.

Webby 03-12-2006 09:18 PM

Yep... no hesitation and never regretted it DWB.

If you stand back and view the overall and it sounds either crappy, fishy or the people involved are either dubious, incapable or have a crap track record - walk away. It don't matter if it's $10K or $10 mill - Life is too short for more problem sorting.

PS And good luck on the new prog!! :thumbsup

shermo 03-12-2006 09:19 PM

Your instincts are there for a reason. Follow em'!

Mr.Right - Banned For Life 03-12-2006 09:23 PM

Do you have anything to lose by doing it.

DWB 03-12-2006 10:41 PM

Wow, good answers. Most of you seem to work off your hut feelings... I like that.

tristan_D 03-13-2006 02:29 AM

that's just how things in life goes, it's all a gamble.

potter 03-13-2006 02:33 AM

I suggest you should go for it. Anyway, you can't always expect for a 100% assurance on everything.

It was no old lady, it was yours truly in drag. I was about to take my pants of and start yodling but some cocksucker knocked me out.

Barefootsies 03-13-2006 06:08 AM

Yep. I've done it (walked away). Always has worked out. As one of the other's had said, IF everything including numbers panned out, I would give it more serious thought. But that is rarely the case.

The gut feeling, or the angels on your shoulder, or just your instinct are normally right.

:pimp

SkyWalker2k 03-13-2006 06:10 AM

yup would walk away! i never take chances on my money

BlackCrayon 03-13-2006 06:37 AM

there must be a reason why it feels wrong. there are times i wish i would of listened to my gut. i would of avoided a few bad business deals tho nothing huge.

Wiggles 03-13-2006 06:44 AM

gut instinct is usually right, maybe the subconscious seeing something you didn't notice or give importance to within the deal.

ilbb 03-13-2006 06:49 AM

believe your instinct!

sfera 03-13-2006 07:00 AM

go with your gut feeling, allways pays off
