Why doesn't the regular girl like our work??

I was downtown tonight partying and met a lot of pretty and cool girls. But as soon I tell what I'm doing, most of them, they back off... why is that?? DK is pretty liberal country but still.... :(

u ever experience the same?

EdgeXXX 03-12-2006 12:48 AM

You just have to be smooth about it...

Yeah... I know, but its hard.. they are so "suspicious" :)

skrog 03-12-2006 12:50 AM

The minute I bring that up. Girls usually get all fucking freaked out. People need to be open minded.

tony286 03-12-2006 12:56 AM

why not say your a internet marketer, if your not creating porn your not a pornographer. I am a pornographer and I tell people I work in multimedia, eyes glaze over and subject over.

skrog 03-12-2006 12:58 AM

I am a straight forward person. If the girl has a problem with what I do. Next.........:pimp

Paul Markham 03-12-2006 01:16 AM

Most girls will be worried you have a hidden camera in the bedroom.

Young 03-12-2006 01:20 AM

Tell them you do internet marketing and run a couple of websites. Don't tell them you do porn within 5 minutes of meeting them...what are you a moron?

Control the conversation...what the hell are you doing talking about what you do for a living? Thats first date material...

God I'm good with women...gods gift

chodadog 03-12-2006 01:43 AM

I've had very few girls react negatively, to be honest. Most are just surprised and then ask if i work in front or behind the camera. They seem to be at total ease once they find out you work on the marketing side of things.

Almost Evil 03-12-2006 02:06 AM

Thats weird. When I lived in copenhagen, adult entertainment in all its variances was widely accepted, talked about, and open for public knowledge. I met many people in pubs and such there who "claimed" to be in the industry(whether they were or not, who knows)

I suppose it depends on how you announce your business choice. If you mention that you take photos/are a webmaster/internet entrepreneur, chances are they wont bat an eyelash. If you blatantly say, yah i video chicks gettin' banged and blowin' off guys then I put it on the internet...that can be a bit of a turnoff.
:2 cents:

phogirl69 03-12-2006 06:05 AM

A lot of men dont like female webmasters either, even though they are only webmasters, NOT CONTENT, and make good money, a lot of men I talked to say they would rather date a woman with a more respectable profession such as a doctor or lawyer because those jobs are more of a status symbol/prestige. They think a woman who sells porn on-line is deranged and not right in the head, even if she makes decent money.

They feel more proud telling their friends their gf is a dentist or pharmacist than a webmaster, even if the female webmaster makes as much or more money!

They probably think its ok if a guy sells porn but if a female does it they think its "weird".

mortenb 03-12-2006 06:21 AM

I'm in Denmark too and I have completely different experiences.. Whenever I tell some girls what I do, they usually become very interested and are hard to get rid of again..
It must be in the way you tell them about it..

phogirl69 03-12-2006 06:25 AM

A lot of people are into prestige these days, even men, they feel more prestigious saying their gf is an accomplished doctor or lawyer, it's not as prestigious or a status symbol if their gf is a webmaster, even if she does good for herself. They think it's weird for a woman to sit in front of the pc all day, most men prefer a "career girl" or something that commands more respect.

Manowar 03-12-2006 07:03 AM

some just don't feel it

ackanime 03-12-2006 07:22 AM

I get off easy when asked about what I do. I just simply say I'm a freelance artist that draws comics and pinups for commissions. Though, those that do find out that I draw smut for a living are always curious as to how I got into the business :)

this is dark side of our work...

JD 03-12-2006 09:00 AM

I just say web developement and they say "So you build websites?" Yep. that's about it. I never spill the beans that i make money slangin' pussy in the internet until I get to know their limits.

Libertine 03-12-2006 09:29 AM

I usually just start talking about AJAX, XHTML, OOP, C++ and then they quickly fall asleep so I teabag them and run off naked into the night, singing "it's a wonderful world".

Exactly! The other thing you run into is they think you're a swinger and into hardcore BDSM. I'm not exactly sure how they make that jump, but they do.

Women tend to think these similar things about men when they say what they do in our industry.

Holly 03-12-2006 11:49 AM

Never, ever lead off with anything porn related. If a guy I just met in a bar mentioned porn to me, even though I deal with it daily, I'd run far away from him, too.

It's the same as the, "I'm a photographer, I take pictures of models, I'd love to take your picture" shit. For most females, it sets off the warning bells. Tell them you're a webmaster (marketing... whatever), then mention the adult part after you get to know her and she realizes you're not gonna ass rape her and bury her body in the desert somewhere.

:1orglaugh

Well, you can't always please everyone dude.

Anyway, congrats on your 2k! :)

maxxx_fucktor 03-12-2006 08:02 PM

because the regular girl's thinking is so provincial

sfera 03-12-2006 08:44 PM

because they dont like pervs!

tristan_D 03-13-2006 02:39 AM

because of the stigma surrounding the porn biz

Bob_cougar 03-13-2006 03:49 AM

because the teamwork of media, school, church & government has deeply ingrained in our minds that porn is tantamount to immorality and eternal damnation

Most people think pornographers are slime. In fact they have all kinds of weird ideas about how we are going to secretly film them or get them hooked on drugs. Once my husband and I swung with an older couple in France. 2 days later they found out about the porn career and showed up at our apartment demanding photo copies of our identification, etc.

And to be blunt,

I've been in Denmark and most of europe. I'm sorry but just because there are a few clubs and television commercials might show a bit more. Europeans have NOTHING on americans for liberal attitudes. In fact, most of europe is downright conservative pruds.

SkyWalker2k 03-13-2006 06:06 AM

think 80% of the girls i meet in clubs here in Denmark, think its kinda cool living that I have, the rest are just girls I dont wanna date anyway...

Wordsforhire 03-13-2006 06:16 AM

Thats right holly

Its so not safe for women these days and if she meets a guy who tells her right away hes in porn shes auto gonna think hes got hidden cameras in the bedroom, hell nag her to do pics, he's a hardcore sex man...that sort of thing. Its not that they arent interested they are just worried, I know I would be if some bloke and me started talking and he told me he does porn, although I write it I would be like whoa..ok cya later..

Whereas if a girl was to tell a guy that would be completely differnet the guy would just be disgusted, all part of this ego thing. He wouldnt want his mates knowing she was into porn even if it was just the directing or marketing side of things. It makes it out (over here anyways) that shes a slag. I got some nasty comments for just writing about it. Any girl thats associated with sex in any way has a hard life where im from. We are automatically branded as sluts..

I would however be blunt about what I do otherwise there will come a day shes surfing your pc to find all these pics and think holy shit hes a porn phobic do I not do it for him? Then you have a lot of explaining to do and all the other BS

ServerGenius 03-13-2006 06:26 AM

Because the exact same reason why you don't like to have a relation with a
stripper, prostitute, talent :2 cents:

BlackCrayon 03-13-2006 06:30 AM

women should be more worried about the things men don't tell them rather than the things they do. if someone is upfront about such a thing, why would that set off warning bells? if dude was some kind of weirdo who taped random girls he brought home he would never mention porn and say something totally the opposite.

Teodora 03-13-2006 06:33 AM

i know what u mean but i think it's natural as a first reaction from them :pimp

Herb Kornfield 03-13-2006 06:39 AM

Standard line: I work in sales and marketing online. Thats usually all you need to say and they'll figure out the rest.

Star 69 03-13-2006 06:42 AM

I don't know what about DK but in Ukraine, when the girls heard what I am doing they just start asking so many questins about my work and even some of them agree to participate in the nude photossesion!
www.classycontent.com

Kimo 03-13-2006 06:44 AM

its the media

Wiggles 03-13-2006 06:47 AM

most people dont understand what we actually do, they don't realize its alot of mindless work, they think its a bunch of perverts in basements taking pics of cracked up sluts and then fucking them.

Pornopat 03-13-2006 07:11 AM

Theu usually find out the morning after when they want to check their email on my PC.
"Yo man...I noticed you surf a lot of porn!"

kenny 03-13-2006 07:48 AM

blurting out the porn thing is never a smooth move

most people don't care if they get to know you first

It's just not cool to meet people(esp. girls) then blurt out anything that has to do with porn within 5 minutes of knowing them

je_rome 03-14-2006 03:27 AM

because girl's idea of a prince charming does not include a man working in an adult/porn industry. they prefer professionals over porn masters.

Egomancer

Pandemos 03-14-2006 04:15 AM

Weird, I find that the vast majority of people are nothing but interested when I tell them what I do.

maxxx_fucktor 03-14-2006 05:34 AM

I just don't hang around with people who hates porn.

IWantU_Jeff 03-14-2006 01:35 PM

Ive told girls before.. I mean Im not 'outright' dealing in porn since its we're adult dating, but most girls always seem interested more then back off... montreal girls I guess lol

RayBonga 03-14-2006 01:59 PM

Maybe you're just plain ugly and they needed an excuse to get away.

j/k :winkwink:

Guess that's not what most girls dream about. How will they tell their parents that the new bf is in the porn industry?
