Do you love or hate torrent sites?

i lovem, too bad there are soo many full adult dvds that are for trade.

this question is specifically torrents and not p2p's

do you hate it or what?

nexcom28 03-11-2006 02:43 PM

I am so slow I only just figured out what a torrent was a few days ago. Withing hours I had 9 full albums and a dvd that is still showing at the cinema.
Slowly learning to love it.

same here nexcom, although i knew what a bit torrent is, i just havent fucked around with it much or downloaded anything. just within the past week, i've been getting into it.

You know what my philosophy on this is...

P2P's and Torrent's are not going away, either figure out how to monetize the traffic or continue bitching on the boards like the rest of the dinosaurs that the traffic sucks and they are all freeloaders. LOL!

Seriously millions and millions of surfers and not one of them will buy something? Coooooooooooome on!!! ;)

Interesting to see everyone giving thumbs up to stealing movies/cds, but when someone's design or content is ripped off, 5 page threads are started on gfy...

NoWhErE 03-11-2006 04:16 PM

I hate them, I dunno why, but for some reason, stuff is REALLY slow to download for me... and I have a super fast connection...

ServerGenius 03-11-2006 04:19 PM

I know what they are but haven't bothered to try it out......where can I get
some info on it, what's a good and easy torrent client?

Why can you honestly say that you never downloaded anything for free?
Do you have licenses for all the software that you ever used on your machine?
Are you truely holier than the pope?

I have a hard time believing it.

I like to download stuff first and then determine if it's worth it to buy.
I don't go into record stores listening to CD's I rather download them
listen to them and if I like them I'll order the original online. Same with
movies and same with software. The prices they charge these days I
want to make sure if I'm willing to spend money on it. If I don't like it,
I delete/uninstall it. I don't see any harm in that. I don't like unpleasant
suprises, certainly not when I have paid for it.

That's all great, but for example:

"I am so slow I only just figured out what a torrent was a few days ago. Withing hours I had 9 full albums and a dvd that is still showing at the cinema.
Slowly learning to love it."

Do you honestly think this person will go to the store to buy those 9 albums now? and then on the way back will stop by a movie theater to watch the movie he just downloaded?

I'm not holier than pope, but I just don't think that these kinds of discussions are appropriate on a business board.

I agree with you on this and I myself don't think that that is ok but on the
other hand. People the people that do this wouldn't have bought what they
download if they couldn't download it. It's the same with people that do
anything to get free porn. These people just don't want to pay.....they
wouldn't even pay if they couldn't get it for free. Now it's perhaps too
easy to get shit for free so a bunch of people just download it for free
but on the other hand downloads also work as advertising. I had numerous
times that because I downloaded something that I bought it. If I hadn't
downloaded it I would never have bought it. So on 1 side you could say
it hurts the business (allthough not as much as they would like us to believe)
A lot of people don't want to go through all the effort of searching,
downloading, burning to disk, etc, etc.) But on the other hand they also
benefit from it coz people discover more stuff coz it's available which makes
them buy more.

If I speak for myself this is true. I download stuff to judge, I don't like
watching DVD's on my computer and I certainly don't want to waste
time burning/ripping stuff etc, etc. It's not worth the effort and the
quality is not like when you buy it. People who don't care and go through
all this trouble imho are people that wouldn't spend money on it anyway.

But of course I can only speak for myself and I know there's people that
take more than advantage of the situation and of course that's not right
and is the same as theft. But those people are the same people that
before internet were copying records and dubbed rented videos. It's not
something that started because of the net.....it just made a bit easier.
