The Commonwealth Games
 

They are about to start here in melbourne, the city and surronding suburbs are madness, people everywhere, i cant wait until they finish, i think i would rather watch paint dry on a wall than go to the commonwealth games. It is costing taxpayers of Australia, something like over 2 million dollars to guide that old bitch of a Queen around our town. I could think of better ways to spend that sort of money.

Without the russians and americans/germans etc its mostly sub standard stuff.

the last 2 years i've been counting down the days until the damn games are over and done with, the thing gives me the shits ,not just the cost factor but amount of crap they have been spinning
every bloody night on the friggin news there is some crap about the games

then you have them complaining about ticket sales not being as good as they expected , well what the hell were they expecting at the prices they were asking

15,000 (note, not 1,500, 15,000) unsold tickets to the opening ceremony alone. Someone in marketting is not going to be popular ;)

Not to mention all the crap that has gone on behind the scenes - Ie, massive crackdown and trophy prosecutions for graffiti artists (I'm against graf, but I'm also against 10 years in jail for painting walls).. quite a few explorers I know in melbourne have been arrested as terror threats, whilst sitting watching tv.. etc
