NASA facing certain death in the future?

What good is finding life on another planet for us at this point?

It seems to me it would severly undermine relegion....& relegion is the opiate of the masses.

So what happens when we find the space monkey on mars? You think anyone will believe the shit they hear in church anymore?

I mean, i look foward to it, i honestly do.....but i don't think they'll ever let it happen. Christianity, Islam etc. have a strangle hold on billions of people.

So whats next? I mean i sincerly fear what will happen when these mentally inferior sheep realize that book in their car that keeps them in check...is nothing more than a fairy tale.

Maybe its what the world needs..........a wake up call!

Porn is the true religion!

KRL 03-09-2006 09:31 PM

They've already come here. But it will never be acknowledged.

Scootermuze 03-09-2006 10:32 PM

It wouldn't affect religion...

It's the belief that God created the universe.. so that being the case, as he supposedly created life on Earth, he would have also created life where life exists.. The, "In his own image" may be a problem however.. :)

...sorry

I think the bigger problem for them its killing astronauts for sloppy reasons.

Rictor 03-09-2006 10:44 PM

Why would alien life conflict with the Bible? It says God created the universe, so if there's alien life, God created that too. Religion would assimilate this just as it has assimilated every other major cultural and scientific change over the last 2,000 years.

Besides, religious people pick and choose what parts of the Bible they believe anyway. The Bible condones slavery but you won't find any church that supports it.

Nismo 03-09-2006 10:50 PM

I remember not too long ago seeing on the history channel, a nasa scientist saying that he's almost 100% sure there is another life form out there and they are aware of us. They just happen to be smart enough to not allow us to find them for fear of extinction. Think about it - we start wars, we are racists, fascists, neo-con evangelists, we have all kinds of weapons; we would destroy them if we found them.

Nasa on the other hand, I personally believe, will go bankrupt or be bought out by risk-taking billionaires like Richard Branson who has expressed serious intrests in space travel.

Christains say the Bible says that EARTH is the only place with life. Life on other worlds makes earth less unique. Also if there in fact intelligent life elsewhere and it doesn't look anything like us and if there is a God and he created man in his own image, well what about the aliens? Life on other worlds contradicts the Bible and many would lose faith. And that's not such a bad thing. Yeah it sucks when your kid finds out Santa isn't real, but isn't that better than him being 16 and still believing in Santa?

Our world becomes a better place when it does the tright things because they're right not not because they think they'll get some heavenly reward later. And when peolpe stop doing bad things because its wrong and not because they are afraid of going to hell.

I'm an atheist and I know it's wrong to kill and steal and I don't need a book to tell me so. And frankly if you do, you have issues.

BoNgHiTtA 03-09-2006 11:03 PM

Then the world wakes up and realizes that religion is bad, and we all need to work together to make a better race.

Cause lets face it, we need some Jedi's and we gotta make sure we can control Darth Vader when he gets to power. That deathstar is no joke.

A good thing? Not in this day and age. It would cause chaos. Faith is what keeps many people in line and not doing terrible things. Faith is good and free. Might as well beleive in God. What do you have to lose? Win-win situation if you ask me.:2 cents:

wedouglas 03-09-2006 11:12 PM

Why don't people believe in God?

It's free to believe, even if it is far fetched.

I hope NASA finds a new planet for me to move to soon because I can't take much more of these people anymore.

Do you believe in Santa? Why not? What can it hurt? Maybe if you did he'd start bringing your presents again.

By the way are you worshiping Odin or Zeus or any of the 1000's of other gods man has created over the centuries? Why not cover ALL your bases. I'd say YOU are fucked when you die and you find out Vishnu is real.

christianity continually updates itself to keep up with science... it's sad really.

acctman 03-10-2006 01:12 AM

SetTheWorldonFire 03-10-2006 01:12 AM

It's not about that, it's about space real estate :warning

Pornwolf 03-10-2006 01:23 AM

Aliens were covered in the book of Genesis... they just fast forwarded the story and skipped the details to get to the naked chick.

Religion is not bad.

People are.

Surely - it is the ULTIMATE GREED to expect EVERLASTING LIFE?

I find it a bit of a contradiction - maybe we should be happy with our short but fun "lot"?

people have a misconception that alien life form comes in the form of a human or the like which is not true.

we have had alien life form fall to earth since the beginning of this planet. watch the ngc sometime when they are reseaching the ice cores they have pulled from greenland (i believe - i get that and iceland confused) and watch what they find in those cores.

we have had and will always have extraterrestrial life forms on earth in various different forms.

Tricksy 03-10-2006 08:03 AM

I thought that their main purpose to use the outer sources... like the space near earth or minerals...
and some small things about exploring other planets are just big games of big boys... the same as porn, for example :)
