I've made the first step!

Just bought a treadmill today. It's half the battle I kept using the "it's too cold outside" excuse or I don't want to drive all the way to the gym! So I'm going to put it downstairs in my tv room and hopefully be able to watch a full movie while burning off calories! I'm doing it more to keep myself sane then to lose weight!

Everyone is telling me it's going to be a dust collector...lol Anyone else here have a treadmill at home? :upsidedow

dissipate 03-09-2006 09:40 AM

Congrats - most treadmills do end up dust collectors, but that doesnt mean yours has to! You're off to a good start watching TV while you're doing it, it will associate the treadmill with somthing pleasureable. Don't try to over-do it at first. Depending on what shape you're currently in, just start off with a good fast walk for half an hour or so for a few days. After that start jogging a little bit and set goals for yourself. Try not to make huge ones like "Running 5 miles a day", but set small attainable goals that will ultimately lead to your larger one. Good luck!

first thing to consider is how chris and you can have jungle sex on a treadmill LOL

Gentle_Ben 03-09-2006 09:44 AM

lol, good luck Funbrunette. Just make yourself do it. I actually think putting it downstairs is a good idea. My parents have a treadmill and something else, but in their bedroom and my dad says its the most expensive clothes hanger hes ever bought :1orglaugh Happy working out!

DutchTeenCash 03-09-2006 09:44 AM

I did

a really expensive one. Sold it after 2 months. The gym works, running at home doesnt, at least not for me.

Ive had one at the house for 6 years and maybe used it 4 times, i go to the gym more then i use the treadmill

jbrasco951 03-09-2006 09:48 AM

just find a tv to put in front of the treadmill and you can get distracted
maybe suspend one up to head level like they have it in the fitness places

sherie 03-09-2006 11:09 AM

Nope I almost bought an eliptical machine, however, my condo has over 30,000 square feet of facilities...including a bowling alley :) Good times!

pornguy 03-09-2006 11:11 AM

Cool deal. I want the treadmill that has the sandwich warmer. That way I can put my bacon and cheese sandwich on it, and have a cold beer in the cooler, while I work out.

Tom_PM 03-09-2006 11:12 AM

Cool, good for you. I'm waiting for a machine to come back in stock so I can order it.

I'm done buying my wife exercise equipment.

The two things I've gotten her have been used maybe twice each, now they sit here.

So she convinced me she needs to get out of the house and wanted to join the gym. Fine, she got a free month's membership to try it out, and went once...to check it out. Hasn't been back since.

As she blobs out over the next few years, I guess I can hold out hope that she'll get some exercise by taking out all the shit I've bought her over the years that just sit here collecting dust.

All I need to do now is find a lawyer who'll take up my lawsuit against American Idol, Survivor, Oprah and a few other shows that are putting my wife's health at risk. Any suggestions on an attorney like that? Post em here.

Good stuff!

LaurieX 03-09-2006 11:21 AM

I have been going to my gym every single morning and I always use the treadmill for at least 30 minutes they have Tv's in there and I watch the news every morning and before I know it the time is up. Watching TV really keeps your mind off how long you are walking/running for.

Good for you for getting the Treadmill good luck with it.:thumbsup

chowda 03-09-2006 11:25 AM

cold weather is a bad excuse. The only reason why i wouldnt go out to run is coz its slippery, im out when spring comes.

if u already started making excuses, chances are you'll find more as to why you cant run on it.

hopefully my attitude will make u get off ur ass and think differently, coz no one should care about ur health more than urself

Yep, burn even more calories!

CherryLipsRosa 03-09-2006 11:39 AM

i had a bike once and hardly used it. i like the gym just because i can see people. Good luck and let us know how it goes!!

candyflip 03-09-2006 11:43 AM

My parents are in their mid 50s and get to the gym daily. They've been doing this for 2 years now and haven't skipped a beat.

My little sister and I joke about them being healthier that we are, but it's the truth.

They have an entire gym setup at the house too. All that shit sits.

tristan_D 03-09-2006 07:07 PM

I am more of a stationary bike person than a treadmill one.

Anyway, good luck to more steps and shedding off those extra pounds

Funbrunette 03-09-2006 07:36 PM

Well I made a promise to myself that I would do it a minimum of 5 days a week! I agree that running or walking while watching a good movie can make the time fly by! And since I'm in my home I can do it naked...lol :winkwink:

tony286 03-09-2006 07:47 PM

congrats and best of luck with it.

sh33p 03-09-2006 07:55 PM

Yup, recumbant bike. Works wonders.

Good for you. I love my treadmill and it gets used frequently. When it is to cold or to hot outside they are a perfect alternative.
