Not to my Knowledge NO............
Red or White?

Bastone 03-08-2006 09:46 PM

of course it does, especially when it is left uncorked, you lose all the aromas and flavours of the wine!

com 03-08-2006 09:48 PM

Im sorry I never have booze sitting around long enough to go bad

woj 03-08-2006 10:19 PM

once you open it, of course it goes bad...

uno 03-08-2006 10:54 PM

Definitely. It's still good if you like drinking vinegar.

Adult Insider Bubba 03-08-2006 10:57 PM

I never had it open long enough and not drinking it lol, but, yeah, it will go bad if left unopened

Major (Tom) 03-08-2006 11:22 PM

yes.. depends on teh cork or how young the wine was when bottled. sometimes extra fermantation occurs in the bottle causing it to taste carbonated. Or, sometimes the cork starts to rot causing it to taste metalic and somewhat like a plum. Or, sometimes the cork has an imperfection in it. you can tell this by one of two way, feel teh top of the cork before opening it. if its raised some, the bottle is no good. The second way is a tad two late but if you see any wine on teh side of teh cork its bad, or if the cork has a deep red or black bottom. Also, only buy a bottle thats laying down or tilted. The cork needs to remain wet.
Once its in teh glass, say a few ounces, tilt the glass some near a light. If the wine has a yellowish hue in the miniscus the wine is bad or very close.
It all depends on personal taste though. I prefer a brunello circa 1997 :)

offcourse it goes bad.. bacteria goes active and banana on everything

Shoehorn! 03-09-2006 01:02 AM

Yes it does. Also its not good to keep wine more than like 20 years, so if you have any wine that is unopened and more than 20 years old I will take it off your hands free of charge. :)

Zuzana Designs 03-09-2006 01:03 AM

hmmm I don't think it does

I was happier with the 95's.

Violetta 03-09-2006 01:59 AM

I think it depends on the wine actually!

Kassidy 03-09-2006 02:04 AM

Of course wine goes bad, especially if it's been opened. Once the air gets to the wine, it becomes oxidized if it's not consumed right away - especially reds. If you can't drink a whole bottle at once you can buy a pump that will pump all of the air out of your wine so you can recork it and reduce the risk of oxidation. You still can't leave it for more than a few days even under those circumstances.

je_rome 03-09-2006 04:27 AM

the older the wine, the better the taste. but this rule does not apply to uncorked wines.

aico 03-09-2006 04:30 AM

Once oxygen hits it, it's on it's way to shitsville. Same with Beer.

LiveDose 03-09-2006 04:39 AM

Once opened the answer is yes.

lilith_godess 03-09-2006 04:43 AM

wine is one of the most popular aphrodisiacs in the world, and it works just fine..

KRL 03-09-2006 04:58 AM

Yeh, if you uncork it and let it sit on the table for a long time , you might as well finish it off within a short time thereafter.

A lot of wine goes past its best and yes of course it can go off.

Teodora 03-09-2006 06:22 AM

oh of course it can go bad. A warm room can easily damage its quality. That's why its best to keep it in a cool cellar :upsidedow

Ami I 03-09-2006 09:25 AM

yes it goes bad 24-72 hours after opened

Wrong. A lot of bullshit is being posted in this thread.

My parents were collectors of wines. Most wine sorts are not made to be kept for more than about 10 years or so. And these are probably wines you cannot afford to drink anyway.

Regular wines will go bad after a few years. The reason for this is that the alcohol eventually turns back into sugar. If it tastes funny or smells bad, it's bad. Worst case that can happen is that you get some serious diarea for a day or two. But unless you are a total newb you will notice the difference with a regular wine, and wine that's no good.

It is very difficult to keep a wine for like 20 years, under most circumstances it will turn out to be crap. That's why good old wines are so expensive, they are very rare.

Fetish Gimp 03-09-2006 09:30 AM

They can if they hang around with the wrong crowd.

chodadog 03-09-2006 09:37 AM

A bottle of wine doesn't need to be opened for it to go bad. Even a wine that's intended to be aged for X amount of years needs to be kept in the proper conditions or it will go bad.

DutchTeenCash 03-09-2006 09:47 AM

course it does, uncorked or not to all things comes an end

always makes me laugh when ppl keep champagne for 10 yrs or so.

BuggyG 03-09-2006 09:53 AM

hmmm.. red vinegar people.. never throw out wine.. just let it go and it becomes vinegar after a while

waste not.. what not

Does it still have alcohol? It's possible, you've had a lot of luck then. Most of the time it will be crap and bad for your stomach even it's wine that is ment to be kept that long. What kind of wine is it, where is it from?

so you know your champagnes.. nice

I was told the yrs it needs before the cork gets on top thats how long you can keep it.

I bought a Krug some year ago to celebrate. You could keep that for 10 yrs np, but hey whos gonna do that. And to keep your rack full of $300 champagnes is not for me :)
