Selling footage for a TV commercial???

How can I find out the going rate for selling a company footage for a TV commercial?

I have no idea what range I should be going for. :helpme

Do you mean you want to approach companies with generic footage, or a specific company has said they want to use your footage?

Either way, googling for forums on rights managed stock footage might help give you some ideas...

it's a matter of custom content or stock footage.

and those prices depend on the client's budget. the bigger they are, they more they pay.

period...

it also depends on what they are going to be using it for. If you are using it for Basic Local Cable your looking at very little. I have been paid by some local people to shoot commercials in the past (under $500.00 most of them).

Exactly, and if that same footage was used during the super bowl it would have cost a considerable amount of money more.

Thanks. The company approached me to use custom content for their commercial. I kind of figured that it would be around $500 for a few seconds.

I will do some googling now too.
