My brother crashed his truck last night...

He's only 22 and I helped him get a 2005 Chevy Avalanche about 6 months ago. Worst mistake I ever made. Since the day he brought it home, he drove it like he wasn't paying for it (I guess because he didn't), sliding around corners, picking up all of his buddies and cruising around at all hours, etc., etc., etc.

He's ok, but lucky. He was driving too fast on a curvy road and slid it sideways into a telephone pole. The pole smashed the entire driver's side in, but right behind his door. He was barely hurt, but the truck is totaled.

Why didnt you take it back once in a while to teach him a lesson when he fucked around in it?

I dont have any sympathey as it seems like you just let it happen.

When will you be buying him a new one?

tungsten 03-06-2006 09:33 PM

It was in his name, not mine.
I won't be buying him anything again... ever.

He went wild in that truck... lost his license in November for 12 months, but he was still driving anyway. He spent 10 days in jail for driving on a suspended license in January, and his license was suspended when he crashed the truck. Cops gave him a ticket for that again, plus a careless driving. I imagine he'll be back in jail again soon.

nofx 03-06-2006 09:34 PM

sucks

you should make him pay you back.

High Quality 03-06-2006 10:56 PM

Insurance will pay. What do you care?

nick1980 03-07-2006 12:02 AM

Never mind what happened to the truck, what's important is that you're brother is safe.

detoxed 03-07-2006 12:07 AM

Nice... I'm 22 and I bought my own new Chevy Silverado Z71 last year... we are going to drive it like it should be driven man whether its free or we paid for it :)

If he is smart he'll drive safer and know his limits... maybe get him an even bigger SUV so he'll be even safer when driving like that. heheh

jigg 03-07-2006 12:51 AM

good thing he didn't kill himself.
And at least it was a pole and not someone's driveway or house.

Now that he's ok you can make him pay for the truck

FlogTheLog 03-07-2006 12:55 AM

good thing is that he is ok.... post some photos if you have any

tomud 03-07-2006 12:55 AM

I hope this serves as a lesson to everyone out there. You are not that safe after all in the road, much more if you become reckless

PussyTeenies 03-07-2006 01:26 AM

thats why i stopped lending or paying for my family stuff and toys :)

emthree 03-07-2006 02:02 AM

Pictures of the truck?

pr0 03-07-2006 02:06 AM

Let me see if i can dig up the pictures of what happened to my knees in a crash this past summer. It would probably help him slow down.

Violetta 03-07-2006 02:11 AM

oh man... that sucks!!

Michaelious 03-07-2006 05:15 AM

He has put his self in the position not your fault

Teodora 03-07-2006 05:36 AM

good news he is ok... but still he should have look after that track more carefully... hope he learnt the lesson and will appreciate things more!

TreasureBucks 03-07-2006 05:55 AM

My old man, made all of us kids buy our own car, which is probably why we all took good care of our cars.

Glad to hear your brothers ok. An expensive lesson, but at least he didnt get himself killed.

I always wondered my my parents wouldnt buy me an expensive car. Now, that im grown up, I look back at all the accidents i was in as a kid, and go.... ohhh, thats why... damn they were smart.

whats funny is now, that ive grown up, I lent about $20,000 to my old man, and my brother, and niether one has bothered to pay me back.

My old man, hehe, still teaching me lessons till this day. He basically taught me not to lend money out to anyone....even in your own family.

Downtime 03-07-2006 06:04 AM

that is horrible, glad to hear he's alright at least

If I can trust my family with my life, I can trust them with a few $. Only dogs wouldn't pay back their only family members, unless of course they were in serious financial problems, in which case you shouldn't care about the money.

reed_4 03-07-2006 06:46 AM

Don't worry too much about the truck, it's good that your brother is ok.

MickeyG 03-07-2006 06:49 AM

sounds like he needed to be off the road anyways. What an idiot.

Pete-KT 03-07-2006 06:57 AM

you should of taken it away when he lost his licence

gecko 03-07-2006 08:59 AM

damn... atleast hes ok.

Babaganoosh 03-07-2006 09:03 AM

No good deed goes unpunished.

Vitasoy 03-08-2006 12:25 AM

Consider it a hard lesson learned. Glad hes okay.

I dont give a shit about the money. Its the principle of it.

However, they wont get another dime.

Just wait until he figures out that can't buy another vehicle without a valid Drivers License :winkwink:
