pornJester:

It is my understanding that requesting a link exchange does not fall under the heading of SPAM.

Maybe someone can educate me on this matter.

Of course 5 requests I think becomes spam.

omygosh 04-26-2002 03:58 PM

I would assume its spam because of the fact it was sent out to a mass list made up by more than likely grabbing emails from a board, from whois, or some other means other than going to each site directly and emailing the owner. Maybe the eason he got it 5 times so far is 5 of his sites were spidered for email addys.. ?

Link Trading 101:

Lesson 1: When requesting a link trade with a well established resource site first check to see if they have a request form (which I do).

Lesson 2: When requesting a link trade it's common place to put the other party's link up first in good faith (also this is a good sign that the email/request isn't spam).

Lesson 3: Spamming your requests for link trades, especially for a so called 'webmaster resource site' is not a good way to do business.

And on top of all this I already emailed him about his spam and he does it again. Maybe if the site had one ounce of decent content I would have given him the benefit of the doubt, but well, check the site out for yourself if you care to...

im not agreeing wiht his method of getting the word out lol im just offering an explanation of why he keeps sending the same mail to you/him (not sure if that was poisted byt he same poster as the initial message as i didnt look first )

i personally hate spam and dont use it in any way as a method of contacting people. If anything i will head to your site and find a contact form there to get in touch with someone and i dont usually do it on a mass basis.

ah well

harvesting emails isn't the way to go. the only pages on my site where my email addy can be found are the 'privacy policy' page and the 'write for us' page. this email did not relate to either of these topics.

kmanrox 04-26-2002 04:31 PM

even so, do u think that people read your responses?

i highly doubt it.... they get cussed out all day

He replied, we went at it for about 2-3 replies, so i'm sure he remembers me. And the reason this pisses me off so much is that I put alot of work into my resource site and jerkoffs like this come along and try to cut corners. For a similar reason I didn't like spacedog, he had on the index page of his resource site "advertise with us, over 500 adult webmasters visit this site daily" after his site was up for less than a month. Needless to say I had at it with him and he removed the statement from his site. Anyway, these punks don't last long in the business, just look at where our cosmic canine is now...

Hey PornJester, I dont know if you know this or not, but I The Superbooger Alliance now own http://69khz.com as I noted on the index page upon transferral, I agreed to leave the page, but since I put my name on the front of this page if there are any things you would suggest I DO REMOVE, please let me know, honestly, I have not even investigated the site, simply slapped my name on it, transferred it, and left it as is for now...

Please advise on any other statements I should overlook for as I dont want it to be thought that I am profitting from his site in any way, and I only agreed to leave the site with his codes as part of the deal,...

I received that same email mentioned here in this thread - The definition of SPAM is unsolicited email, and that's exactly what that was.

I also have an adult webmaster resource site, but I am going about trading links the right way - putting up links, then personally emailing each site individually.

I have been getting an overwhelmingly positive response from the sites I contact that way.

:winkwink:

Turboface:

If all unsolicted E-mail is SPAM then, even though you have a link up, isn't sending an E-mail to the Webmaster requesting a link exchange, unsolicted mail.

I have in the past, when I was in this business before, put up a link and then E-mailed the Webmaster requesting a link exchange, under the belief that this type of request is not considered to be SPAM. It is my intentions to do the same thing at some point in time.

There are apparently those, that believe as you stated; all unsolicted E-mail is SPAM. Is it or isn't it.

Is there a URL for the legalities concerning "SPAM".

I'd just go through and see if anything on the site looks fishy or misleading, you don't want to tag your name on a site and not know whats on it. On a quick glance though i'd remove the script that doesn't let you see the URL in the status bar when you mouse-over and I'd remove GTX cash from the sponsor page.. talk about spamming jerkoffs... the rest I'll leave to you :)

Fletch XXX 04-26-2002 08:33 PM

PornJester, due to your request and my investigation I have found a few things I did not agree with on the sponsors page as well as other things, I need not address here.

I offered to maintain this domain as is for Spacedog, and I honestly did not even give the site a look over in the last month or so of me owning it.

In doing so, I truly do not agree with "rape" sponsors, nor do I support spamming sponsors, or other naughty practices used by some of the mentioned sponsors/hosts/and any other service Spacey offered in his Webmaster Resource site, I only hope I am not thought of as renigging on my part of the deal, since I am a man of my word, but am I supposed to clean up this mess or simply delete. Upload. Replace, refresh?

The answer is here http://69khz.com

Thanks for the heads up Jester.

:thumbsup

PornJester,

I don't consider it spam one bit.

Whats the difference when someone emails
you and asks for a link ??

It's the nature of this business.

I think Jason is doing a damn good job, and I get
a lot of traffic from www.FreeAdultResource.com

Grow up!

Anyway you look at it, email to harvested addresses is SPAM.

Also, Fletch, good choice, no reason you should have to go through all the trouble of regulating someone else's mess.

And J.R., you must be joking, get a clue. I've been working this scene way to long to even argue with you.
