Why I think free sites that jerk surfers around are good for this industry
I used to really hate all those free sites that have things like:
-blind links to pop-ups and/or other sites -CJ sites -sites that try to change your default homepage -etc... But after some thinking, I came to the conclusion that its probably actually good for overall sales to pay-sites. Here is why: surfers get so tired of being fucked around, that they finally decide they can't take it anymore and they whip out the credit card and join a pay-site where they know they won't have to put up with all the shit. I don't run any of these sites that jerk the surfers around, and I still hate it when I run into them on my own journeys for free porn, but I have a new appreciation for them now. What do you guys think? :question |
if it makes me money... fuck the free surfer.
|
That is true.
That is also the reason why bad (design) galleries/free sites convert better than the real good ones. |
Yeah, it makes sense.
Lets turn all TGPs into CJs - and conversions will go up. |
No, I don't think all TGPs should switch to being CJ sites. We still need TGPs to work as a market for advertising pay-sites, but surfers often get sidetracked into the realm of CJ sites and I'm sure it annoys them.
As long as they realize that getting good free porn is more difficult then just paying for it, I'm happy. |

if u fuck the surfer around they'll say fuck it and look for alternatives to websites.
i can see not giving them too much, hit em with blind links, some consoles, but don't overdo it. if the surfer closes his broswer or it crashes i don't think u made much money. what i do on my surfer trap and cj sites is, if they don't click a trade, sponsor or to my content i nail em with a pop up. the closer they are to my content when they leave without clicking something, the more aggressive the pop up, or chain of pop ups(max 2). worst case send the fucker to a toplist on the last pop up to get a fresh surfer. |
nothing in this world is free, so why should porn be
|
Lev - not true
If I learned something here on GFY board is - that there are 2 free things in live. Hate - as the board shows relentlessly AND GFY shirt - though I've never seen one in real life (so maybe its all a fiction) Now - I can see smartass jumpin up shouting "LOVE!!!... Not only hate - Love is also free!". BullShit Gimme-a-break - Love costs $200/night - goodlookin love I mean :Graucho :2 cents: :1orglaugh :thumbsup |
fuck the surfers.... make them pay.

Yeah, if they're not willing to pay for porn, then you're not under any obligation to provide free porn. So jerk 'em around good!

Every time one of you brilliant marketers does this to a new curious would-be porn surfer, you guarantee that person will NEVER whip out his credit card. Plus, you forget that what's good for the industry as a whole may not be good for YOU personally -- and I defy any of you to name another industry where abusing the customer who hasn't asked for that is good business. |
I think we should send bookmark tgp traffic to cj after same ip come that many times on the site ... or something like that ... that'd be working well

Anyway, I think there's a better chance of a surfer getting mad at the mass consoles, giving up and joining a paysite than of him finding a big TGP with more porn than he could ever view and deciding to join a paysite anyway for even more porn.. he's going to keep coming back looking for porn, if CJ sites convince him the only way to get it is by whipping out the CC, he eventually will I think.. or just eventually find a TGP ;) Sorry if the post doesn't make much sense, I havn't slept in like 30 hours :) But I hope you understand what I'm trying to say at least. |
I understand, but I think y'all vastly overestimate how much the average surfer comprehends what's going on.
Joe Horndog does NOT understand the economics behind all the free porn on the net. To him, a porn site is a porn site. "Them places fuck up yer computer, man." Pay sites don't look any better to a person who hasn't subscribed to one, either. A lot of 'em pop exit console hell if you try to leave their join page, and a lot of those consoles take you right back out into CJ hell. You and I know that whipping out your credit card can make the pain stop, but Joe Horndog does not know that. And if he's the least little bit timid about computers, he's gonna get scared the first time a porn site makes him reboot and he's not gonna come back. We still got lotsa magazines and videotapes in this country, and no matter where he is he can order those offa Ebay without ever seeing a popup. |
Well, in my experience, freeloaders are going to be freeloaders no matter what. I doubt they're going to pay no matter what you do to them ...
A lot of this also depends upon the quality of the traffic. If it's good, quality traffic then you also run the risk of alienating those who would pay ... but decide not to because you've jerked them around ... If it's shit traffic then ... what the hell ... screw them, although I doubt the conversions will be any good ... |

if you make them PAY for porn instead of giving the shit away for fucking free.... guess what? They'll have to pay to see it. They couldn't be freeloaders if there wasn't shit out there for them to get for free. |

BUT ... the reality is there's so much free stuff out there now for the hardcore freeloader .... he doesn't have to search very far for his free fix ... Plus, a lot of them are willing to spend a lot of time chasing that free stuff ... just to avoid paying for anything ... Hence the reason I don't think you really can force the hardcore freeloader to pay ... at least not in the current marketplace ... Maybe it will be different five years from now ... but I think there's still an ample supply of free stuff out there right now ... |
give it away for free = shoot yourself in the balls.

There's a bunch of webmasters who don't "give it away" ... But they also don't implement basic security measures for their sites ... And I'm talking about big webmasters as well as small who are hacked every single day ... Hence the reason there's a million pirate boards where the average freeloader can get his daily fix and then some ... There's a ton a free content on those pirate sites ... feeding the freeloaders day in and day out ... Just one example of the "free" content that kills everybody's revenues ... |
