Video Audio Gurus, Help Needed.

Donny and I use a VX2000. For audio we have the following:

A boom mic which attaches to this:

Azden CAM3 Mini Mic Mixer

That's a 3 channel mixer. I should be able to plug the mic I have attached to my shirt into one of those channels. But only Channel 2 on the mixer works. I can plug the boom mic into channel 2 and hear it. But plugging it into 1 or 3 does not work. I don't think anything is wrong with the mixer. Am I doing something wrong?

Basically what we want to do is attach a mic to channel one. Belinda will wear the mic when she's interviewing models. Channel two will be the boom mic. That will be extended above the model's head. But channel 2 is all that works right now and I can't figure out wtf is wrong.

If this doesn't work, you'll have to offer up some boobie pics of Belinda - maybe that'll get some attention :winkwink:

I only use cams with XLR inputs so never used one of those Azden mixers.

A place to get some fast help would be DVinfo.net. They have an audio forum and lots of helpful people.

This minature 3-channel microphone mixer allows you to add and mix sound from 3 microphone sources simultaneously.

The mixer features 3 MONO 3.5mm input jacks and 1 STEREO 3.5mm output jack.

Comes with a STEREO-to-MONO output cable.

Donny and belinda

sounds like a jack/cable issue

maybe one of your mic cables are stereo and your pluging it into a mono channel - usually this doesnt matter but with some mixers it does.

maybe belindas adapter from her mic to the cable isnt right -

look at the boom mic jack - is it like the other jacks?

the stereo jack usually has 2 or 3 rings around it the mono has one.

If your mics are condenser mics, make sure they are getting some phantom power somewhere in the signal chain or they won't work at all.

got some help I see :winkwink:

Good feedback. I'm thinking the cable issue jonesy mentioned may be the problem. I think I'll take the camera and mixer down to Radio Shack and see if we can't figure it out. :)
