How the hell they came to those conclusions, i'll never know...

:disgust

candyflip 03-04-2006 11:40 AM

Bill Murray is magnificant. Even in that movie.

triumph 03-04-2006 11:41 AM

it was a decent movie, not your typical hollywood flick, but different is nice sometimes.

websiex 03-04-2006 11:42 AM

I thought it was pretty bad up to like 1/4 the way into it, but then it grew on me and I think it is one of the best movies I've seen in the last few years.

Ross 03-04-2006 11:43 AM

Wasn't terrible. Weird I'd say. But an ok movie..

Yes, it's really a movie that has to "grow on you". I like it alot! been to Japan myself and get the same feeling when I'm there...

Scott McD 03-04-2006 11:44 AM

Did anyone actually find it funny though ?

Niklas 03-04-2006 11:45 AM

Not me, I disliked that movie.

geirlur 03-04-2006 11:50 AM

Hated the movie. Thought it was going to be funny but got really dissappointed

Corona 03-04-2006 12:00 PM

It was slow but I really liked it.

stickyfingerz 03-04-2006 12:09 PM

I think I watched it and fell asleep partway through. :Oh crap

Axeman 03-04-2006 12:25 PM

I thought it was a great movie. The humor was subtle but i still found myself laughing

buddyjuf 03-04-2006 12:27 PM

I didn't like it too much

HushMoney 03-04-2006 12:28 PM

Yes, you either get the humor and sweet/sadness of the movie or you don't. I loved the movie, but it's not for everyone.

Pornwolf 03-04-2006 12:53 PM

The movie was good. It was pretty slow, but Bill's interaction with the Japanese people was hilarious.

teadrinker 03-04-2006 12:56 PM

Its a movie for people with more in their mind then just peanuts

Manowar 03-04-2006 12:57 PM

i didnt like it

Thank you. A voice of reason. It was a terrific flic with subtle undertones, humor and nuiances. Why do people need to be beat over the head with gratuitous violence or some other Hollywood bullshit formula to be entertained. Do people think at the movies anymore or do they just want to fed the inane studio formula.

X37375787 03-04-2006 01:31 PM

I loved every second of it. Partially because I can relate to their situations. But either way, I loved the subtle humor and the sadness.

vvq 03-04-2006 01:33 PM

i enjoyed it.

Dr.Strangelove 03-04-2006 01:35 PM

exactly.

CDSmith 03-04-2006 01:47 PM

I enjoyed it. Scarlett is a joy to watch no matter what film it is, and Bill Murray is.... Bill Murray, period.

I've seen the movie maybe 3 times now, and always find myself wondering what the hell is it that he says to her in that last scene? He whispers something in her ear..... but what?

I've imagined all sorts of things as to what it might have been.

Project-Shadow 03-04-2006 01:51 PM

I do enjoy it, however it is so intensly boring. I have dubbed it my 'puts me to sleep film'

Anytime I can't get to sleep, you know whats going in the DVD player.

YUP :thumbsup I thought it was one of the best films of the year for sure. Loved every minute of it. Great movie, and very funny.

Brujah 03-04-2006 02:01 PM

I liked the movie. I didn't get the appeal of Royal Tenenbaums, however.

Zarathustra 03-04-2006 02:06 PM

The movie is not only about being lost in translation of language or culture but also the discoursive language of love and how it interprets between individuals and their relationship with social standards

Sarah_Jayne 03-04-2006 02:44 PM

Because it is one of those films you either love or hate. There are a lot of people that just don't like that type of story telling device. Personally, I loved the film. Having lived the last 10 years as a fish out of water I got that part of it all too well. I really enjoyed it.

Yes but it isn't knee slapping humour. It is situational. The rip my stockings bit was the most out and out funny bit but there are pleanty of other bits that make me smile. It is that kind of funny rather than the bathroom humour stuff.

quiet 03-04-2006 02:46 PM

i loved it. great film.
