Canadian soldiers really taking a beating in Afghanistan lately

Yesterday a vehicle crashes and kills one Canadian Soldier, injured 6 or 7 others.

http://www.winnipegsun.com/News/Worl...70585-sun.html

Today there was some sort of attack there and a few more were killed. (just heard this on the radio a few minutes ago)

Looks like Afghanistan is heating up again. We may have to send our women's Olympic hockey team over there to really kick some ass.

czarina 03-03-2006 04:11 PM

Wow. That many canadian soldiers are over there? Who is protecting the country???

Just kidding. Another country that the guys should not be in.

Pornwolf 03-03-2006 04:12 PM

I didn't know you guys still had soldiers.

Why do you guys have an army, no one hates you, you will never be attacked.

Canadian army units have been used mainly for peacekeeping duties around the world for the past several decades, with the exceptions of Desert Storm and later Kosovo where we actively took part along with the other coalition forces.

In Afghanistan it's been all peacekeeping duties for several years now.

Hue G. Pness 03-03-2006 04:25 PM

Plus Canadian snipers have a decent track record too. I'm not even Canadian but have read some articles about some bad ass distances some of them have registerd for kills.

adultfora 03-03-2006 04:44 PM

Accually we use Canadian rifles in our military from the company http://www.diemaco.com/

There weapons are way better that the org. US M16 , and we all have optic scopes on.

Tempest 03-03-2006 06:54 PM

It's been heating up there for awhile now...

And for the uninformed, Canada just took over control of the forces (including the US forces) in southern Afghanistan.

More Soldiers die Canadian or American,
And we get idiot post like......
"I didn't know you guys still had soldiers."
"Wow. That many canadian soldiers are over there? Who is protecting the country???"
fucking amazing.
And yes Canadain snipers are the best in the world.
For all those that dont have a fucking calender....
Canadian army WW1 entry ....1914
U.S army entry ... 1917
The war ended 1918
WW2 Canadian army entry 1939
U.S army Dec 7 1941 lets call it 1942 (Pearl Harbour)
We have always been there and usually first.
On a per capita basis Canada gave more in the way of caualties in either war,
(other then Russia) then any other country in the world.
Korea yep we were there first again, several of my famiily members are buried there.
Both countries have had great and proud military record.
Dont disrespect either by your ignorance.

Well said.

I had great uncles (from Newfoundland) who were among the first to land (and die) on the beaches in Normandy on D-Day.

JimmiDean 03-03-2006 07:35 PM

Thank you....
That would have been Juno beach.
for the record the Canadian army was the only ones to reach there objectives on D-day ( June 6 1944)
Even though they faced a tough opponent in the Waffen SS and the first Panzer Lier.
The Canadians and theNazi Waffen SS had such a hatered for each other that both side would not take prisoners.
it was kill or be killed.

Lance69 03-03-2006 10:03 PM

My hats off to all the soldiers, regardless of where they come from. We need to be careful about transfering your misgivings on Iraq to Afganistan. They are not the same campaign.

Spunky 03-03-2006 10:12 PM

God bless the vets.

But we are also well sourrounded by strong nations and has nothing to fear, but we also has a lot of soldiers, but the main part for us are to international missions, and we are damn good at it, like the Canadians are.

Maybe it's because your mind is too tiny to wrap around any idea to start with?

Disclaimer, I am not Canadian.

Mr. Sausage Man. Czarina was joking, incase it is hard for you to understand.

and as for canada having the best snipers in the world, you have a lot to learn. They may have the best PUBLICLY known snipers, but not the best! Of that I am sure.
