Has any one shiped large number of porn DVD's to Canada from US with out any issues, or do you have to go through customs ?

you shouldn't have any problems if their is not a pound of BC bud under the DVD's in the box. :)

To my knowledge they'd all have to go through Canada Customs.

Each province in Canada has its own set of rules deciding what is objectionable. i.e. fisting and golden showers (while not going in someone's mouth) are legal in Quebec, but illegal in Ontario.

From what I have been previously told, you must submit each movie you want to sell into Canada, to each jurisdiction for review. They charge by the minute to view the movies.

I have had more problems shipping dvds to Canada than to any other country, most notably Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver.

Seems the customs guys love porn and want their own private collections.

This is no insult to Canada, by the way....

Some handy adult video classification info regarding Ontario (from Ontario Film Review Board - the governing review panel):

I've never had an issue getting DVDs sent to me in Calgary - I've had about 75 sent to me over the years.

500 at once will raise flags. But as long as they are run of the mill hardcore or softer it won't be a problem. Just remember the three part rule-of-thumb for what is acceptable in Canada:
1. No mix of violence and sex.
2. Nothing degrading to either sex or the participants.
3. Everyone over 18.

Canada Customs can hold stuff for inspection for up to 30 days. I have had stuff held before, it happens, but never commercial DVDs.

The bigger issue might be taxes/duty. Make sure your paperwork is in order so you don't pay 7% GST plus duty on 500 DVDs as that could be a significant dollar figure. I would talk to a customs broker in advance to make sure the paperwork is correct BEFORE shipping.

hi Tortoise
Where's your contact info :)
Hit you up where!?

I will say this: Don't plan to ship them back to the US after... new US custom regulations will require a statement that the material on them is not obscene. However, there is no way to know if that would be "community standards ohio" or "community standards salt lake city". It is truly a pain in the ass.

It is even worse with raw footage... for each tape you are required to detail the content, running time, etc. Pain in the ass.

I stopped shipping stuff to US clients about 7 months ago, when these new rules came into force. I could not make such a declaration without leaving myself open for legal action.

I might add that I'm one of the unfortunates who always gets the anal probe treatment at airports, border crossings...so, it's not a great surprise that my shipping would be scrutinised.

TORTOISE 03-08-2006 02:07 PM

My icq is 158721531 :thumbsup

I also have just taken a delivery of a order...if anyone wants any dvds manufactured by MAVERICK .....I have approx 1000 surplus at present,Delivery is free anywhere in Canada....

Don't use the mail.

We use FedEx for our monthly releases into stores ( 18 to 24 different titles, about 200 deep) .

New releases are shipped on a spindle, sleeves aside. Catalog comes in as is .

TORTOISE 03-10-2006 04:58 PM

???? No need to put on spindles etc....????? Canadian customs have no problem with adult dvds..if the correct paperwork is done ..its easy to just to import and export fully cased and shrink wrapped :pimp

I import and export thousands no problem :thumbsup

It is,. when people in the business answers.

I specified spindles, because when I get 400-500 of a title, I don't want to pay Fedex shipping on the weight of empty cases that I can get for a dime here.
I also specified that when I buy thousands in catalog, they come " as is " ...

Choppa 03-30-2006 01:11 AM
