Internet Explorer To Stop Displaying Flash?
In an coming update, Internet Explorer is soon going to change how it deals with plugins, including Flash.
Basically, Flash won't automatically play any more as far as I understand it, and instead they'll need to firstly be interaction with the surfer to confirm they want to play the animation. This could make a large number of websites a lot more difficult for visitors to navigate and visit. Anyway, more details here: http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1895,1895907,00.asp |
It's already downloadable from the Windows update site. You have to choose custom rather than express.
It's an update for IE 6. It places a box around the flash box and asks you to press SPACE or click on it to activate it. |

Sites that's use Flash navigation would probably be worst affected initially I would say. On the positive side - it may make Flash intros a thing of the past. :winkwink: |
thats fucking stupid, M$ always dicking stuff up and trying to keep the monopoly sound.

I'm not too dicked about it, but the good thing is that it takes care of those fucking annoying flash ads for smileys which shout at you and make you poo yourself if you have your volume on too loud. |

flash is great and amazingly powerful, but so many people out there do shit stuff. also, unless you are building a very technically advanced flash based site, you really shouldnt use flash for your main navigation anyway

Great maybe now people will think twice before subjecting others to their flash crap.
I`ve had a flash blocking script for Opera and Firefox for a while and it`s just a godsend. |
I really do believe that Microshit has sold more Apple computers than the Apple computer company ever did.
Keep fucking up Gates. Pretty soon everyone will be on a Mac. |
Umm, I think this is as a result of that lawsuit a while back about automatically launching plug ins?

I've never used flash and I thought that it was common knowledge in the internet porn industry to NOT use flash so.........................

Sounds good to me. I specifically didn't install flash in firefox because its so damn annoying. Anyone who is using it for their navigation is an idiot anyways.
|
Jesus.... I gotta get out of the interwebs. Its gotten so painful lately.

there's no such thing as common knowledge in the internet porn industry when it comes to such important factors. I do not take anything given unless I see it with my own eyes and since this is a factor that we are in position to test ourselves, we did that and found certain tours convert better properly utilizing flash. Apparently we don't have full brain :)

jjjay it really varies. Flash is just a media mean, how you are using it plays an important role. We have done some very impressive flash work in the past, but when we tested them they didn't perform as expected. We had to remove them. Personally I'm annoyed by java, but you can see some of the largest cam sites making use of it. I believe there's a reason for that too.
|
they are creating a new Flash technology, and they can't roll it out, until everyone updates to the new IE that won't play anyone else's flash..but will play the new M$ flash by default.
|
i wonder if this has anything to do with google choosing flash for its video search and not using drm or a microsoft product
