sending out 1099s
 

why are companies still sending out 1099s... a month past the required date? today i received one post marked 02-28-06 and have gotten 3 others dated after 2-20. i was under the impression the deadline was jan 31st. anyone else getting these?

When I don't get one I always wonder if the money was reported and I just didn't get a 1099 for it or if they didn't even report it.

odds are didnt report it.. or atleast thats how i like to look at it lol

I'd have my taxes done by now if it weren't for those guys. As I remember I had to wait on them last year too.

I hope you're right. They don't have to report less than $600, right?

well, the reason you prolly just getting them now is cause companies like to wait till the last day on stuff like this


Jan 31: last day to send out W-2's to employee's (& W-2 red-forms to IRS)

Feb 28: last day to send out 1099's (& 1099 red forms to IRS)

It is Jan 31st. I guess they don't care if they are late because no one is reporting them to the IRS. I think it's up to $100K fine for failure to send 1099s on time.

Who are they? If they aren't based in the US they don't have to send out 1099s. One such example would be PimpRoll.
