AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript And XML)

Its been a around for some time, but is it secure to use on on a large(ex. full blown ajax site) or small scale(ex. shoping cart only)? Does anyone have any experiences to share using this technology.

I am not a coder, but we are using AJAX (xml-rpc) on some of our sites, and as far as I have understood it is _very_ safe.

We have been using AJAX for many things.

Based on the # of people asking for outsourced AJAX specialists... this is getting big.

AJAX rocks. It is really cool stuff.

sickbeatz 03-03-2006 03:30 AM

You realize Google and Microsoft both use AJAX throughout their sites? This alone should answer your question.

Watch out of unecessary ajax use, it really changes the dynamics of traffic/load on a webserver.

Ajax is the number one Dutch football club :)

ajax is just another tool in the toolbox... is it cool, yes. Is it efficient, yes. Is it secure? Well, It's only as secure as you write the code to be. Nothing is completely secure, all you can do is write to minimize your risk.

As far as total site design in ajax is concerned, check out the backbase libraries (backbase.com) it's pretty cool and you could do a whole site with it...

As far as use in our industry goes, I recently saw a linklist site that used an ajax mousover on text links to pop a preview image of the gallery the link lead to in a tooltip.... Seemed kind of snazzy, just cannot remember who it was that made it...

backbase.com's libraries are really fucking nice!...Really shows the endless possibilities of AJAX...

prices are a little steep though!... Im pretty sure that as AJAX will become more and more used in sites, prices will drop (or maybe even similar open-source solutions will come out...)

For those interested, check out Sajax

It's a free toolkit for sajax...makes the whole thing much easier to use...
