Is your iPod a part of your daily life?

Do you take your iPod everywhere you go?

Do you have it integrated into your car with a direct connection to your stereo?

Have you purchased peripherals for your iPod, i.e. iPod boombox, special docking units, cases etc?

On a daily basis I'm intrigued to see how everyone has some sort of an MP3 player and so often they are iPods. Even amongst those who've shunned Apple for the past decade own an iPod.

I wouldn't own an Ipod if I didn't get it as an Xmas present (60gb video). I've never liked Apple products - partly because I think they suck, but mainly because of the elitist asshole fucktards who taught their greatness.

The only thing I bought for this Ipod was a case, because it even get's scratches if breath on it.

However, it goes with me everywhere. I have entire websites and development folders stored on it, as it's now my handy external drive between my laptop, home & work desktop. It has all my appointments and contacts as it syncs with outlook. It has all my passwords and notes as it offers a decent interface for reading short text files.

Oh yea. It also has a bunch of MP3s, even though I hate Itunes and I need to find time to find something better for music management. I'd also probably never watch a video on it, as it seems to make battery life about 2 - 2 1/2 hours.

The battery life is an issue.

Seemless car audio integration makes burning discs a thing of the past. It's also nice to carry an entire music collection around too.

Actually, if I don't watch video, the batter life really is around 15 - 20 hours. So it's not too bad as an large storage / mp3 player.

Mine isn't that good, I have the 30gb iPod photo. I would doubt if I get more than 6 or 7 hours of play if I frequently change songs.

Raven 03-01-2006 07:18 AM

I found an external battery pack that works with my video iPod, so I'm all set with it.

I resisted buying one, mainly because of those ear plugs that come with it...but, when I found the cool Sony ones that are nice and soft for girly ears....I was sold. Now, it goes with me everywhere, although I do not have it hooked to my car...my honey does in his car....

It's really cool to watch my videos on the iPod...you'd think the screen is too small, but it isn't....

selena 03-01-2006 07:32 AM

I listen to mine daily. Exercise would be boring without it.

Have you been able to compare the video quality to that of a PSP?

Actually that Ipod I got from a sponsor as a bonus is still sitting it in it's box unopened 5 months later. Maybe one day I'll find a use for it.

If you're looking to perhaps re-gift it I can send you my address.

My IPOD is directly wired to my car. I have multiple IPODs, all with the same music, two boom boxes, a carrying case, and one of those FM transmistters for when I'm in another car - came in handy when renting a car last week in California where I drove 800 miles in four days.

Raven 03-01-2006 08:42 AM

Steve, yeah...it's an LCD screen....and a good one..so I think it's comparable....I've only seen movies on one psp...and senility is me today.

Anthony 03-01-2006 08:45 AM

I went from:

4GB Mini to
20GB Ipod to
60GB Color Photo

I've bought about 5 IPODS in my lifetime, and have given them away as presents.

I can't live without mine, and still trying to fill it up.

EroticySteve 03-01-2006 08:52 AM

Before I had an iPod i had a Rio and I used it for a few days and couldn't get used to the tiny controls. The peripheral and support market is massive and it makes the iPod that much easier and more enjoyable to own.

mortenb 03-01-2006 08:55 AM

I used to have an ipod, but it broke.. I had it with me everywhere I went.. I miss it.. :-(

I know I could just go buy a new one, but I would much rather have someone give me one in exchange for my sig space.. :-)

Michaelious 03-01-2006 08:58 AM

i wouldnt have got an i-pod if it was not so cheap from people i know

PussyTeenies 03-01-2006 09:06 AM

long anwser: NO
short anwser: no sorry dont own one.. dont need one.. maybe if i get one for free i might anwser yes.

Raven 03-01-2006 10:06 AM

Can't imagine not having my iPod now that I finally broke down and bought one.

Once I figured out how to get my dvds on it, life became a little sweeter....still deciding whether I want to hook it up in my car....or get satellite radio or maybe both. Decisions, decisions.

hova 03-01-2006 10:20 AM

I own 4 Ipods, and I love them. But I don't have any of the extra's, except some cable to connect it to my stereo

Marshal 03-01-2006 10:42 AM

i always forget to bring it with me... :D

Downtime 03-01-2006 10:51 AM

Steve another good thread!

I have the 40 gig photo and I would die without it. I litteraly take it everywhere i go.

I downloaded a program for it updates my rss feeds, weather, movie showtimes and horoscope and maps for my area, and lyrics in a note pad to selected artits. Its kinda cool to listen to a song and really look at the lyrics and see what they mean. Finding out what a song you have listened for years is about is kinda neat :)

With the features on my cell phone and my ipod I really have turned it into a ghetto palm pilot.

I have it loaded to the nuts with music I love having an entire discography of the artist on hand! I would say I have way more than 20k worth of music on it.

I also have some great audio books by Tony Robbins, Brain Tracey and Steven Covey just to name a few! Those are great to keep you motivated. FAst food Nation, Naurtual Cures by that Kevin Trudeu dude from tv a good listen! I also have a vast varity of stand up comedy on hand to make you smile when Im feeling down. I also have some mood music, some hynosis tracks as well. I really have my ipod tweeked content wise.

I also use it as a portable hard drive where I keep a few movies on hand that I have never seen before so when I have some down time I always got a fresh new movie to watch on my computer!

2 quick tips:

Buy the apple care plan. I had one go down and its worth the money!

When using a different computer make sure you dont have the update you ipod automaticly checked in itunes or it will replace your old library with you new one. I have lost an entire library worth of songs cause of that

I havent found a case I like yet, that reminds me I should look online now.

What are those boom boxes like. I think i want one for my bedside. I wouldn't mind waking up to some slayer some days! haha

Bluewire Ross 03-02-2006 12:01 AM

Nope, mine is pretty much collecting dust

xato 03-02-2006 06:24 AM

i dont even have an ipod and i am strongly wondering what the fuzz is all about.
i mean its just a kind of walkman.
i can listen to music at home from my cds/mp3s, same for the time when i'm in my car, when shopping i really dont need to listen to music, why would you need something like that anyways.
i see that there are some occasions when you're bored, waiting for anything, on the bus or train or something like that, but i still dont get why almost everybody has an ipod.
doesnt make much sense to me.

Dwreck 03-02-2006 03:45 PM

bump for the hard core ipod users!

reynold 03-02-2006 07:49 PM

there are times that I get tired of my playlist easily that's why I prefer listening to the radio where I can hear random music
