What do you think of the new Proposed Internext Vegas 07 dates??

just got this email.........

"We've received initial feedback from some exhibitors suggesting that we
schedule Internext Las Vegas 2007, immediately following the Adult
Entertainment Expo (AEE) and CES. As a result, we've been able to secure
the Mandalay bay resort for January 15th - l7th, 2007. As suggested, these
dates would follow the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo, which runs January 10th
- 13th, 2007 and the CES, which runs January 8th - 11th, 2007.

Internext would exclusively occupy one level of the meeting space. This
meeting space is just a short walk from the Casino, not far like it was in
2005. The venue features flexible ballroom and meeting space that is
intimate and conducive to networking (not the traditional convention space
with exhibit halls). Registration, Seminars, Booths and other show features
will be located in a very close proximity.

With this in mind, please respond with your ideas and suggestions."

Pesonally I wouldnt mind if it overlapped with AVN and CES by a day or so....what are your thought on this ????????

After Shock Media 02-28-2006 06:27 PM

Honestly sounds good to me and a one day lapse between shows means a day off.

MrIzzz 02-28-2006 06:28 PM

I will bet a dollar you will.

I like it. Better than their old proposed date that would put it too close to Phoenix Forum and its during a time where Vegas won't be so packed and crowded. Personally, I'm in support of these dates.

thank you for your constructive opinion:thumbsup

W/O knowing what else is going on in Vegas during that time, on the surface it looks like perfect dates (and a pefect meeting all, though I usually need the excercise in Vegas...)

I agree with that statement. Though I still would rather see both shows under one roof I can deal with a hotel change if I must. Again at least they give me a day between shows to do that as well.

MandyBlake 02-28-2006 07:16 PM

i think a day between is good. i like the dates.

Looks good, congrats for picking a better time. Now if they could just make it better for us to attend.

Jason 02-28-2006 07:41 PM

AVN is taking steps to better the shows.

I know because CECash was asked in detail about the future of the shows and where they can be better.

CECash has supported the AVN show since day one..

So.. Cut them a break.

TondaB 02-28-2006 07:45 PM

Interesting, that they would be listening now to what webmasters have to say. I think by changing the dates and putting it in a meeting hall, no exhibits etc, says alot about the state of the Internext shows.

kristin 02-28-2006 07:46 PM

Maybe I'm asking a dumb question but AVN is at the Venetian/Sands, correct?

RobbieRye 02-28-2006 07:46 PM

The dates seem better, but is it really worth it?

RawAlex 02-28-2006 08:35 PM

It depends on what the show is... but the dates are MUCH better, you could easily come in for AVN / CES if you wanted, and stay for the web show, or just come for the web show without issues. THe hotels should be massively cheaper that week, and the lineups at the best eats and drinks should be much more reasonable.

With CES ending on the 11th, it won't even be that hard to come in on the 12th and still get 1 day at the AVN show (and go to the awards show) and then do the web show right after.

With CES moving to a Monday to Wednesday, that sort of changes everything, don't it?

Niko Bimini 02-28-2006 08:46 PM

Doesn't matter to me. I vowed this year I would never go back!

And now with the new dates being so close to the Phoenix Forum dates..................its a no brainer for me. NO MORE AVNVegas!

Save your money and come to the Phoenix show which is a much better show anyway.

But thats just my :2 cents:

homegrownmof1 02-28-2006 09:46 PM

I think AVN needs to be given credit for listening and trying to change for the positive.

Maybe a stupid question but I think I'm not online...
What are the dates for Phoenix??

Cash 02-28-2006 10:03 PM

It sounds very good, it would give the possibility to visit the other 2 as well ...

They only moved it about 1.5 weeks - still 2.5 months away from the Phoenix show.

Yeah right. Xbiz does a show in Vegas in the middle of July (can you say 120 degrees outside) in between 2 big shows (Cybernetexpo & Fl Internext) and you like that?

Those new proposed dates are good and Mandalay is great.

DaddyHalbucks 02-28-2006 10:34 PM

1. I like Las Vegas in January, but any date overlapping the CES show is a disaster. So, if there are a few days in between, that is good.

2. Along these lines, I have a great domain for sale: AdultBusinessExpo.com

boneprone 02-28-2006 11:26 PM

They should go back to what worked in the past rather than try to mix and match a new formula with internext.

These past few years with the January have been horrible since trying new things.

Go back to pre-2003.

There's nothing wrong with the Venetian, granted it is not packed with competition from other shows the entire 3-4 days.

Competition with Hospitality Suites, resturants, exhibit rooms, and space in general.

GO back to how it was in the day. The shows were bigger, yet more comfortable and enjoyable.

boneprone 02-28-2006 11:36 PM

That cirlce bar at Mandalay Bay is horrible..... The music is way to much, and chilling and networking is difficult. Even with a scream as you talk back and forth, you cant hear one another. They have 30 minute breaks between the music, but its hardley enough.

One of the highlights of the Venetian year after year is the abilty to network and talk at the cirlce bar late at night. With the exception of this last year because it was packed due to a bone head scheduling of internext powers that be, but the circle bar is usually one of the best features of internext.

The circle bar or round bar at the Mandalay Bay is useless. So is the one at Venetian if the scheduling is that of which it was this past January.

Its not rocket science here people.. Yet year after year it blows my mind how clueless and careless the planning of internext goes, gradually getting worse and worse.

Changes for the worse, not the better seems to be the trend.
If its working, change it, and if it doesn work embrase it.. Seems to be the theme...

Not sure how they can justify all the wrong turns they have done over the years. YOu could just tell things wouldnt work before the show even started.

boneprone 02-28-2006 11:39 PM

And Im sure people will say that Vegas Internext is getting worse becasue of the change in market dynamics yada yada yada..

Not true..

Vegas Internext is getting worse year by year becasue of the decsions that are being made. Year after year.

And thats the bottom line.

RawAlex 03-01-2006 12:25 AM

Boneprone, I think that AVN could easily get the band excused for a few days to make the circle bar at MB work out... if that is the biggest complaint you have about going there, I am sure someone will take care of it.

Alex

reynold 03-01-2006 12:30 AM

i like the dates but i doubt if i can attend the event.

Elli 03-01-2006 12:34 AM

The dates are much, much better. And frankly I like the Mandalay rooms. :) But the lack of the circle bar would be pretty sad. Hmmm...

Mr Pheer 03-01-2006 12:39 AM

I bet the show will have more turnout since more hotel rooms will be available and for cheaper prices instead of having the show during the biggest event in Las Vegas (the CES show)

2HousePlague 03-01-2006 12:41 AM

A little overlap was good for me. But then I enjoy mixing it up with outsiders, for business -- :)

Ideally, that's what I'd like to see as well, but given the choice between that and identical dates, I'll take the one day break in between. :2 cents:

Ok.. Lets see..... Im almost certain nothing will be done.

And what about the ugly hookers???

Do you think AVN could bus in the better looking hookers from the Venetian to come hang at the Mandlay Bay for a few nights?

boneprone 03-01-2006 01:57 AM

On a serious note, nothing wrong with Mandalay Bay.. My point is why all the changes year after year.. Why tweak what was working, only to later find the changes didnt work.. Instead of going back to how things were, they build more on the previous mistakes rather than taking them back..

"THE HOTEL" makes the whole Mandlay Bay issue easier to swallow..
Without it the regular Mandlay Bay as a whole is subpar to the Venetian at many levels.

The whole feel of the show is not the same..

Agreed, and as long as we're talking about going back to the future, the NatNet Suite worked even better than the circle bar - maybe there's some way to recreate *that* without risking the debacle that sadly ended it.

I was getting ready to mention the "old way" of networking between events :winkwink:

Too bad we started getting people into the industry who were classless enough not to know what a bidet is for.....
