Only 1 in 2,497 people have seen a shooting star -- surprising, I would have guessed more people saw them than that.

tell me about it, 90% of the black folks here eat with their hands, it kinda makes sense though coz they usually eat pap instead of bread (ground-maize porridge),
of course when they go out they use knife and forks so it's not that they don't know how

Reminds me of an incident years ago - I was in a grocery store picking up a few things, and saw an east indian woman in the bulk food section scooping out cherry pie filling with her bare hands from a big plastic barrel and eating it.

As I stood there hardly believing what I saw, a store employee walked over to her and told her the store didn't allow that - and he handed her a plastic ladle. She promptly filled the ladle with more liquid pie filling and raised it to her mouth to continue eating.

I was laughing so hard I think customers halfway across the store could hear me. I turned around and walked right outta the store without buying a thing. Never set foot in the place again after that.

When threatened, a bombardier beetle can expel a blast of 212F-degree air from its arse.

That would be a great defense mechanism for humans :)

. . . the mayflower was owned and operated by the amtsel brewing company, wood from the ship was eventually used to build a barn in England, after a blight of dutch elm disease destroyed much of England's forest, and is still standing today . .
