I was working for a DOT COM back in '99 and the marketing team is having it's daily 2-hour "get everybody BACK on the same page meeting".

We're doing daily meetings because in like 3 weeks we're going to make a big industry-transforming announcement and spend about $20 million in one day on pretty much *air*.

Each person sitting in the room has between $1million and $5million in discretionary budget for that one day. Yeah, MAD shit. And the things we are spending money on range from renting Lauryn Hill ($100,000 for 90 mins.) to renting the Jumbotron in Times Square ($6,000/hour) to wrapping a large building up in a giant banner ($90,000) to hiring 1,200 "extras" to walk the streets of Manhattan with picket signs. MAAAAD shit, right.

So, the mood is pretty intense. We're all in there with our boss, the VP of Marketing, and he's a really cool guy. So the mood is also pretty funny. My turn comes along to make my presentation, and basically update the entire team on my slice of the day, etc.

As I am in the middle of it, the most horrific smell of fart assaults my nose. A really, really bad one -- like cheddar and fish. I look at Charles (my boss the VP) and he can barely hold it together. It was obviously him that dealt it. I look over to Dave, the Director of PR and he is beginning to convulse in his chair. But I take a deep breath (metaphorically) and keep going with my presentation, and I make it, the meeting is saved, Charles loses no face, etc.

Then, just as I am leaving the meeting room, I look back at my boss and say:

"Oh and Charles, thanks very much for your OUTPUT..."
