Domain registration...how fucking annoying is this?

I just don`t understand this...I have been working on a new project in recent weeks and found a suitable deleted domain. Domain is nothing special but perfect for the project it`s intended for.

Just got round to registering the domain...it`s fucking gone and to make matters worse it looks like it`s been registered today!

Looks like a few changes to the site design needed now. I should of course have grabbed it a week or two back but the project is not a common thing.

Strange but fucking annoying. LOL

That happened to me one time, it kept reporting that the domain had been registered but it was free before I went to register it, so I registered another domain with a simular name, same thing. Turns out I had registered both of them and something just got messed up on their side and I was being sent to the wrong url, basically double processing and not telling me "you already have it" just the "already registered" url. Check your domains in about 30 min and see if that happened to you.

why did you work on a layout without locking the domain first?

Agreed 100% but the domain is a 3 word domain and what it was intended for is very low profile type of project. That will teach me.

Check it's availability again in 10-15 days... some registrars hold domains that their customers search for, if they don't buy immediately, then release them after about 9-10 days if they show no traffic.

that sucks big time.
sorry for you...

ALWAYS buy first... THEN design your site!

If you don't have the domain, you don't have it. I was about to buy a premium domain last week and lost it by a matter of an hour or two. It can take over a month for an "expired" domain to actually get "deleted", and if it does chances are its getting snagged up by one of the drop auction sites.
