Ever get caught running a red light by a camera?

Just saw a commercial for this stuff.... http://www.phantomplate.com/ - theres about 15 cameras throughout my town, maybe save me a couple tickets - ive gotten 2 for going through the intersection near my when the light turned red while i was 2/3 through the intersection

I wonder if it really works. We have those cameras popping up all over the place here.

fight it.. you have a constitutional right to cross examine your accuser.
the camera is your accuser. An officer will show up, namely the one who wrote the ticket. At which point you tell the judge this is not my accuser and ask for a dismissal. works everytime :)

Or you can just learn to fucking drive properly and stop jumping red lights.

So the solution of drive the speed limit doesn't list high in your priority?
The yellow to red light duration is based on vehicle speed for that street, if you are going through it, means you are going to fast, the fact that the camera is there, says that other people also have your mentality.

I guess if you splatter someone who pulls out you'll get it.

There is no one to argue with, the camera takes pics when the red light is on, if your car is in the intersection you ran the light. The cross examination right is based on the falibility of a human and "the camera never lies". If you ran the light, take the charge, pay the ticket and decided if you want to keep paying the fine instead of changing your driving habits

It's hard to say. I think some of those cameras are just a new form of entrapment. There is good and bad to come from those cameras

sfera 02-27-2006 10:30 AM

Horny Dude 02-27-2006 10:41 AM

entrapment isnot the right word here. Entrapment means to get you to do something that you would not NORMALLY do.

EroticySteve 02-27-2006 10:53 AM

A friend in VA recently received 5 tickets for speeding as detected and recorded by cameras. Apparently infallible, they are difficult to fight.

He is fighting them though.

czarina 02-27-2006 10:54 AM

not by camera, but I've been caught running a lot of red lights and gotten tons of tickets :(

EroticySteve 02-27-2006 10:58 AM

There is no reason to not comply with the law, running red lights is dangerous.

jade_dragon 02-27-2006 11:00 AM

Entrapment means that an officer of the law willingly gets you to enguage in an illegal activity by manipulating you to do something that you had no pre-meditated means or wish to do under the guise of being a normal person.

So for instance if a cop is in a modded street car next to you at the light and revs his engine at you to get you to race him, light turns green and then he races you off the light and pulls you over, that is entrapment.

You have to pay to play, if you wanna drive fast, keep money to pay for lawyers, fines and damages in case something goes wrong or just don't do it.

I saw that commercial too.

I thought it would be a handy thing, sort of those old plastic plate covers that also blocks off cameras.

But then i realized that i live in L.A and i might encounter one once a few months. IF you live in a smaller city and already have serveral red light tickets. Maybe you shouldnt be driving.

Hollywood Horwitz 02-27-2006 03:22 PM

i argue all my tickets thru the mail, you never even have to go into court! just go to the site helpigotaticket.com .it has all the info there!
