Is it just me or do all the movies out lately suck ballz?

I can't find anything I want to see. The last new movie I saw was Final Destination 3 which was a decent horror movie but nothing special. It just seems like all the new movies in the past month or so have been lame. Any suggestions?

Aquarius 02-26-2006 04:03 PM

Munich was pretty good.

Munich was ok, but I expected it to be much better

Aquarius 02-26-2006 04:06 PM

That's right, I didn't took into consideration that films arrive one month or so late here. Sorry.

StuartD 02-26-2006 04:07 PM

could be just you... I mean, not saying that to be mean, but think about it... a lot of these movies have been doing well at the box office. Not Titanic proportions or anything, but doing alright.

If a movie is watched enough to do well, then it must be liked by some.

I think people just put their expectations way to high. Either that, or their expectations are lower and these movies have to much flash for them. These tend to be the people who prefer older Clark Gable movies.

I don't know, as I've said on GFY many times before... the louder people here bitch and whine about how horrible a movie was, the better the odds that I'll actually enjoy it.

But then, that part could be just me... I watch a movie to be brainless and just be entertained... not to analyze and pick apart piece by piece to try to decide if I should or shouldn't approve.

RayBonga 02-26-2006 04:08 PM

Just saw Walk the line today, really like it.

Munich was also a great one.

Anyone saw Two for the Money? Is it any good?

No idea if my standards are rising as I grow older, or what the deal is, but lately I must agree most movies suck. Munich was alright, worse than I expected it to be. Same with 2 for the money, alright, but far from being a great movie.

t_lee 02-26-2006 04:43 PM

2 for the money

I thiught 2 for the money was pretty good. Definitely worth a couple bukcs to go rent.

If you like horror movies, a remake of The Hills Have Eyes is coming out in March. Looks like it might be good. At least it is going to be rated R, and not PG13, so you know they are not watering it down. Supposedly it had to be recut because they were going to give it a NC17.

Looks like my kind of film:

No reason to worry about quality if the box office grosses are up.

I wonder if they are...

HOODWINKED!!!!! Great movie, If you are under 12 or over 25 you will love it. Brilliant writing and characters. Tons of "inside" stuff for adults, and funny story.

The review in my local newspaper didn't think very highly of it, but I guess if you go for goofy parody it might be okay.

This is my biggest beef with movies nowadays as well.

pornguy 02-27-2006 03:31 PM

I have seen a few good ones lately, and one that really surprised me. But nothing major.
