Vegetarian or Carnivore? -- Poll

There's nothing IMHO better than a nice big juicy medium rare T-bone, and hey if you don't like meat that's cool, but I can not stand when folks get over zealous about being a Vergetarian and lecture you about eating meat ..... blah blah blah! (happened today, wtf are you doing in a steak house if you dont like meat?)

Do ya like your meat or you a vegetarian?

WwwizdummM 02-26-2006 02:51 PM

well im sure vegetarians dont like hearing "why dont you eat meat" "wtf do you eat?" "lol eat more vegetables newb" 50000 times whenever they sit down with a group of people to eat. the preaching goes both ways.

I don't preach about what anyone eats period, you eat what you want as long as you're eating, but don't preach at people in the middle of a restaurant, a steak house for that matter and make comments to the waiter every time he brings a steak to someone. I'm not saying every vegetarian does this by any means, I have alot of friends that are strict vegetarians, one who was with me today at lunch and even he was appalled at the behavior LOL .. alot of ppl were like wtf??

I am an omnivore.

I think I would technically be classified as a carnivore because even though I do eat things other than meat, I primarily eat meats.

well, you took the meat eating side of the argument and didnt look into the fact that vegetariens get the same preachy bullshit all the time also.

and anyway, someone that bitches about steak, at a steak house, is mentally handicapped regardless of being vegetarien or not.

and I'm talking about over zealous vegetarians acting like that in my commentary NOT you're typical everyday vegetarians, kinda like over zealous religious fanatics, there's a difference. And there's nothing wrong with being either a meat eater or a vegetarian, just don't preach at ppl about it.

Odd, I have never witnessed outside of an argument regarding the subject. Someone get preached to for ordering steamed veggies, a salad, and a baked potato. Or otherwise skipping meat, fish, poultry, dairy and so on.

I personally am of the mind set that if someone wishes to order an expensive fillet and then ask for katchup to down it with, or asks for meat to be well done almost to a charcoal state I am cool with it. Hell you want BBQ sauce for your mac and cheese or mayo for your broccoli so be it. I do not have to eat it and it is your taste buds after all. (before being called out as a hypocrite, yes I do have an issue with the over use of ranch dressing in the US).

Now I have heard the following before.
Salad bar - Oh that is disgusting, how can they have (bacon bits, cheese, boiled eggs) in the salad bar of all places.
Dinner table - How can you possibly put that in your body? Do you know what they do to that (insert meat topic)? By buying that (meat topic) you do know you are supporting the slaughter of thousands of helpless animals each day.
Placing order - Please bring out my meal on a different tray than any with meat on it. Make sure the cook/chef does not use same knives on my food as those used on meat.
The list goes on.

every single time i sit down to eat with non-vegetarien people or people i dont know very well, something gets said to the effect of 'why' or 'how can you' or 'what do you eat' etc. Some of it is more preachy than others.

Not using the same utensils as on meat is understandable. some people just dont like it. i see the point that youre in a public place and people should feel oppressed if theyre in the minority, but requesting a cook use different utensils isn't hurting anyone. you're paying the cook to make you food, so, him getting a clean knife shouldnt be a big deal. I dont do it personally when I'm out, but I do make sure I use clean utensils at home.

Trust me, its on both sides of the coin. If you dont believe me, go veggie for a month, and see what I'm talking about.

I do go veggie every so often. I get in these "do not feel like meat" kicks.
Though I never go full blown vegitarian I still always allow in either fish or dairy. Typically dairy as I am way to fond of milk.

Funbrunette 02-26-2006 04:49 PM

Me looooooooooooooooooves RED meat, bloody too! Must of been a vampire in a previous life! :winkwink:

StuartD 02-26-2006 04:51 PM

I'm a foodnivore. If it's food, I eat it.

Corleone 02-26-2006 04:52 PM

WwwizdummM 02-26-2006 05:31 PM

Meat eaters are the worse when they find out your a veggie. They treat you like a leper, even if its your own familia. Could have something to do with a bit aof guilt I suppose :winkwink:

tristan_D 02-26-2006 05:34 PM

We really don't mind.

- I don't eat meat because I don't want to support an industry that kills innocent animals and damages the environment.
- I eat delicious, healthy fruits and veggies.

Got more?

BusterBunny 02-26-2006 05:38 PM

sherie 02-26-2006 07:10 PM

reynold 02-27-2006 03:58 AM

im an omnivore - i eat both meat and vegetables. but i will prefer veggies over meat, if i have a choice.

everestcash 02-27-2006 05:26 AM

meat all the way, but then some vegetables are nice too

Teodora 02-27-2006 05:41 AM

i'd say i'm a carnivore but i have periods when i can't look at meat. It also depends on the seasons, like in summer i don't eat that much meat. :)

Pornopat 02-27-2006 05:54 AM

I am a vegetarian. I have been a vegetarian for 15 years now.
Every dinner party I go to I have to explain why I dont eat meat. I have to explain why I am not a hypocrite if I dont eat meat but do wear leather shoes or have a leather wallet. People try to cath me on inconsequent behavior. I get the impression they feel that I am making the statement that I am better as them since I dont eat meat...
Now I never try to convince to be a vegetarian. I am not a Jehova witness and I accept the fact that I have my believes and another person has other believes. I did not come to dinner to discuss morals. When people start probing me though implying I did not think through the things I choose I can get nasty. Remember. I have been a veggie for 15 years and I have been doing this discussion for 15 years. I know all the negatives about meat and I know the blind spots people have. If you dont want me to spoil eating meat for you let me eat my veggies in peace.
:)
