Just got their latest email, and what do I see in the header and subject in plaintext:

My account ID and password.

Go to log in - username and password incorrect.

Change your passwords, guys.

railz 04-24-2002 08:24 AM

Contacted them yesterday about it, thinking it was only me.

Went to login today to check it, couldn't get in. Asked around and a few others have had the same email.

Emailed them again this morning, so hopefully they will be able to reset my account.

GTS Mark 04-24-2002 08:33 AM

Jesus christ that is pretty bad!!

I just dug mine up as well and sure enough there is my password: hungrymanisgay

Fuck!

P.S. On a serious note TopBucks what the hell were you thinking? Who the hell is doing your database management and approving the mass e-mails? Spacedog?

Sly_RJ 04-24-2002 08:43 AM

Hey Guys,

Yes we did send the newsletter out with your username and password and it was a one time deal only. Due to mail server problems, TopBucks was unable to send username and password information to some webmasters and instead of sending everyone 3 different emails, we opted to included the information in the newsletter (yet the only option was to put it in the subject)

We apologize if this has upset anyone and assure you that this was a one time deal only.

One time is all it takes - my account is proof of that.

Any chance someone is going to reply to my emails?

Altima 04-24-2002 09:44 AM

What? Only option was in subject? Did your programmer tell you that or is it something your PR guys came up with on their own?

How would it be possible to be able to put it in the subject line and not in body?

Take $password and stick it in the body...

oh well, everybody fucks up...

Fletch XXX 04-24-2002 11:06 AM

Caught me off guard, but fuck it. I didnt email em, I knew someone else would shout for the rest of us, ;)

Sly_RJ 04-24-2002 12:00 PM

So all of this was to conserve some of your resources?

Next time, send 3 emails...

I'm afraid that's not true, passwords have been in at least TWO separate email newsletters. One of my buddies asked me about this nearly a month ago. I'm guessing right about when the last email went out...anybody else confirm this?

-=HUNGRYMAN=- 04-24-2002 02:11 PM

Funny ... my email said "DrinkingHardBlowsDeadBears" as the username, which is not even my proprer username ... I went to it, and I had five times as many signups as usual ... who said beasty stuff don't sell ??????

Yeah .... definately not a cool move at all TopBucks ...
I thought it was maybe a burp in their mail server that sent itself to me ... until I heard EVERYBODY got one ...
