I am in ottawa and i felt it, made me run to my window to see if there was a big truck outside that was shaking my house.

1st earthquake i ever felt.

Nada on the downtown front, but you guys may have picked up on the aftershocks from what they got in the Outaouais.

I'm in Gatineau and there definitely was an earthquake. Lasted for a good 10-12 secs too..! But I am also smoking, so who knows...

Having lives through 3 quakes (2 in Cali, one in Japan), I can say without a doubt I didn't feel anything worth the mention. It was only a 4.5 centered in Buckingham, Quebec.

Anyone in LA remember the shake and bake in october 87 or 88? ;)

The Geological Survey of Canada says a 4.5 magnitude earthquake was centred in the Ontario- Quebec border region, about 38 kilometres east of Gatineau, at exactly 8:39 p-m.

The moderate tremor was felt in Montreal, and even as far as Quebec City.

There were no reports of damages."

i felt something around the same time. i thought it was just the train going by but it you never usually feel it as its not that close. maybe it was more.

lol, well for people who NEVER have Earthquakes, it was pretty freaky. I live in Gatineau, only about 10 minutes from Buckingham (the epicenter) and I was wondering what the helll was shaking the whole house like that

I felt it in Ottawa here and it was real freaky. I was like WTF was that? The house rumbled a bit and shook.

Yeh, try on a 6 to 8 for size next time. LOL The word "Shake" will take on a new definition.

The 6.7 Northridge quake was the most frightening experience of my life.

You guys are so cool - you just happen to live in a place where you have bigger earthquakes, Definitely something to be proud of, ain't it?
Of course it wasn't scary, it's not like there were damages either. But something like this comes along every few years, and I've seen way more useless threads on GFY, so it was worth mentioning.

I was on the edge of a 7.1 - by the time it got to us it was rolling the ground rather than shaking.

but a 4.5 is still freaky the first time it happens.

When I was in NZ in some places you wouldnt even bother mentioning it to each other if you were in the same room.
