I went to the front page of that site just now, well actually it was a popup from some other site I was at, and in their section of like "recent pics" or something theres some sort of child porn....not cool.

I emailed the webmaster, but is there anything else to do?

I just reported them to Yahoo, their ads are all over the site. I don't care if it is a mainstream photohost according to their terms or not. Let them lose their revenue, that will teach them to allow that shit.

The reason I posted a link to the sites main page (not the offending image) is because I know theres people here who know what to do with such sites, who to contact, how to get in touch with hosts and such, thus I put the sites url.

Guys I think it's pretty obvious that's a file upload site. Just like putfile.com for example, they don't have control of what people upload. Best they can do is delete it.

Judging by the amount of uploaded files, it seems to be a forgotten site or very new site. Of course it's piss poor judgment to allow the script to post the newest file uploads with out approval, but damn give the guy a chance to get the shit down b4 yoiu go turning him in.

It's pretty obvious he's not promoting it, and it was some user that uploaded it.

furthermore many people travel , that picture was directly at the url you pinted it to. Customs agents have recovery programs to check what was last deleted on your computer recover it and view it.. its very common...

I think these programs need to seriously ervaluate how they do business

its also quite obvious if they can have a programmer make the script he can just as easily build in protection from cp/copyright infringement, like banning users who submit illegal content

I'm not in any way defending the CP.. but really guys, how many of you run blogs that allow comments? Someone could just as easily spam your comments with CP links..

exactly , most of those services employ methods to combat cp , thats why you dont see it on there.
True this one case could be isolated, but somehow i doubt it.

flickr,isp newsgroups and p2p programs usually have software to detect and prevent cp from being posted , or at the very least ways of reporting and tracking people who do.

Yes maybe so, but this case it's probably a single individual's webpage. Whom is unlikely to have access to the same tools as the big boys.

This is more like my example of someone spamming your blog's comments and then someone reports you for CP. What makes you think this is anything but a isolated event?

The site only had a few pictures uploaded and it had no page rank.. So it's likely it's a pretty new site or a forgotten one. I will agree it's a pretty piss poor business model, but I highly doubt the guy meant for it to be used for CP.

I do agree shit happens , someone could post the same thing on gfy then link to it from another site and accuse gfy of being the bad guy, thats why companies that run services that are easy to manipulate for illegal activities need to be carefull about how they operate.. ( responsible )

Maybe you didnt see the picture/site , but theres about 10 red flags that go up that say " any idiot could have stopped this from happening" the first being the text under the image. most sites employ methods to flag content that is obviously illegal/questionable

Wow the text didn't stop the thread or the image. Image hosts have been around forever, they have been abused forever, and regardless of how much you hate it there's not much that can be done to stop the idiots from posting sick pictures. Turning in this guy is like turning in Yahoo, except yahoo has money to defend themselves where his world will be fucked by some overzealous internet cop.

My theory has nothing to do with a logo , like i said you obviously didnt read the page.. nor understand what i was explaining..

Image/text recognition is only one of the methods the sites you mentioned uses to screen results.. the other is hand reviews and ip bans that GFY does have.. if you really HAD posted a pedo picture , a gfy mod would have deleted it and your ip banned andtheres a way to contact them directly on any page a anon user can add content to.. and theres a way to track and detect users who try to access thru a proxy .all the sites you mentioned USE these mthods to keep pedo pictures like that from showing up on their front page ( THATS WHY YOU DONT SEE IT ) , its called common sense.. if you have software thats easy to abuse you dont ignore it because you are to stupid to implement it..
