Fletch - our admin guy just called and said a check we sent out to an affiliate awhile back for $100.00 just tried to clear our bank for 24k, looked at the scan and it shows proper endorsement, etc..

Too bad for them that we have fraud controls setup on all accounts.. Jeese are some ppl / companies that hard up for 24k.

Anyone know this company.

Yep, well we use the positive pay system, so it's about 99% fullproof I suppose.

When checks are entered into it, say check # 1234, for $100.00 and then it comes back to clear the bank in a week, month, whatever - if it doesn't match the $100.00 that was inputted it will not clear without approval from us.. I love it, and only like $40.00 per month.

I dunno, probably jail or something. I will know soon if it was a check written to a us company or overseas.

We write thousands of checks per month - so our admin ppl are right ontop of this stuff all the time, luckily :)

Update:

Check was sent to Ecuador, company named changed on check, etc.

Hope they got the cash from there local bank - I know they don't play games down there with fraud :)

We get this all the time Todd. A guy tried to buy $3,000 rims in LA with a forged check. :)

we had the same thing happen thursday morning- wells fargo caught it - two $9k checks

how lame, and what sucks is that the merchant pays in the end.

we filed a police report and the scumbag used a check cashing place. we have now submitted our authorized checks to the bank and only cross-referenced checks will get cleared. the check cashing place laughed when we called and the guy said they get the same call about every...... single phone call. we are switching to some more secure payment stuff that will make it a lot harder to steal from us.

See if wells fargo offers positive pay, alot of banks do. best damm thing for check protection since apple pie :) After cutting checks on the laser or whatever, then you login and have your ppl enter valid checks, just check # and amount.

If you forget to enter - check doesn't clear without approval
If someone changes amount even by 1 cent, doesn't clear, etc, etc.

well it wouldn't have mattered as our fraud bank end at the bank let's us know if there is a check exception every day. Meaning this check # and amount is different from when the check was cut / entered into fraud system.

so even $100.01 would of flagged it, thank god :)
