Besides Putty I also use WinSCP3 for some stuff.

If I'm not mistaken, so can SecureCRT.

If you are a fan of linux/unix you should check out cygwin... its a port of unix tools to win32. It will give you a full linux style command prompt in your windows enviroment.. including the openssh client.

What this guy said.

On the horrible days that I need to log into a Linux machine from a Windows machine I do use putty. It's a little bit confused about keymaps and encodings and some other shell stuff but I find it very useful - and it's free. I tried SecureCRT but I really couldn't get myself used to the feel.

To be honest with you; I've never found a problem with PuTTY/PSCP when connecting from a windows machine to a *NIX server. What features are you guys looking for that isn't provided by PuTTY? Other than the graphical file tran sfer features (SecureFX for those of you looking for that in specific)?

I use Idokorro as well - great little application.

Oh shit!

I meant to say "on the days that I need to log into a Linux machine from a Windows machine and not another Linux box"

There's nothing wrong with putty that stands in my way when I work (and I basically write all my code in shell editors).

Can you go there right now and copy/paste the particular one you are refering too? A buddy told me to go there but they switched the names of their products so they didn't have specifically what he said to get.

sigurman 02-25-2006 07:14 AM

fris 02-25-2006 07:15 AM
