Apple's Newest Laptop

If you're in the market for a new laptop the new Apple MacBook Pro is the first Mac with a duel core CPU and its fast as heck. The display is also gorgeous.

They're not in stock yet. They just had 2 demo models at the store I was at. I think you can order them online though for now.

I have owned a Mac for the last 15 years, and I have to be honest here, I have heard good and bad things about this new Mac, so I am holding off on a purchase.

The bad is that you need to upgrade most of your programs to the Universal format in order to take advantage of the performance. If you don't upgrade it has a program on it called Rosetta, and I have heard that this is slow as fuck, even slower than older Macs running the programs.

The good is, the if you do upgrade your progs, it's faster than fuck, plus all the other great stuff that comes standard with a Mac.

So I am gonna wait until the next one comes out I think. Shouldn't be too long, Mac always comes out with something new almost every Quarter.

:2 cents:

Depending on the Ram and Hard Drive and Video Ram from $1999 to $2800. But the quality is there to justify it. 67% brighter screen than previous models also.

you won't be able to run adobe apps like photoshop on an x86 (read... intel) mac. you have to run this in between app called 'roseta' until everything gets switched over to universal binary.

in the apple keynote photoshop ran damn good through roseta on a crappy imac(core duo)....

Never liked Apple. Plus, now it's just an overpriced UNIX machine.

Pornwolf 02-24-2006 11:32 AM

When Apple finally stops acting like elitest assholes and includes a right click button on the mouse pad I will gladly buy one. That is the ONLY thing stopping me from making a ful conversion.

The only thing.

Sure, I know Macs have the functionality. I don't care to attach a third party mouse to my laptop to be able to use the right click function.

Hell, I am looking at a Mac on my desk right now. It's collecting dust. I haven't turned it on in weeks.

pornguy 02-24-2006 11:35 AM

And only 2,499$. Not bad actually.

Manowar 02-24-2006 11:35 AM

yeah, it is HOT

Naughty Pyne 02-24-2006 04:05 PM

I am ordering mine next week! I am still torn between the 17" Powerbook and the 15" MacBook Pro.

This is absolutely 100% how I feel about Apple. With their shitty market share and limited amount software that's available - they should really start thinking about competitive pricing and better design.

JoeMeca 02-24-2006 08:55 PM

one hot machine!

Probono 02-24-2006 08:59 PM

I am waiting for the 17" then it's time to upgrade from my G4. I have has three trouble free years since I abandoned windows.

tony286 02-24-2006 09:22 PM
